Weight Training: Core Principles

As long as a man (or woman) sticks to the basic principles of weight training exercises, they WILL succeed in their efforts to build muscle and gain weight. That's why it makes me shudder to the core when I see guys at my gym doing things plain wrong while trying to impress all the men and women around them.

Why???!!!!

I even see this type of narcissistic "ego-joyriding" affecting the men who really should know better! - the ones with a printed weight training program outlining the equipment and routines they SHOULD be doing.

Instead, at the slightest 'whiff' of a half-attractive member of the opposite sex, they forget all the tips and principles they ever learnt, and pick a weight way above their capability...Out the window goes proper form and technique, and ultimately the results they came for in the first place disappear as well.

Maybe I give them too much credit to begin with. Perhaps those printed weight training programs are actually step-by-step reminders of how to attract attention for all the wrong reasons.

I'll take a closer look next time, and then point them towards a weight training program to keep them focused and respectable. In fact, do me favor and send this link to any "ego-joyriders" that you know too: proper weight training
