Unique to put it lightly , an atom of all things now I have to say that is bizarre. Interesting article , keep them coming. :)
Great collection of ads. The ad about the runaway slave was sad to read; it's incredible that we could have been so barbaric only a 150 years ago. The ad for the video recorder was however brutally honest - I read somewhere that most of the technological innovation and development on the internet and video recording is driven by the porn industry.
Wow! The American ads are pretty disturbing, but that pig ad (is that French?) may top them all.
I enjoyed the first ones, very interesting to see how values and perceptions have changed through the decades. But that last one is way too much, its sick :( I won't be able to enjoy my saucisson for a long time!
Very good hub :)
Wow. Crazy ads! Great collection here. Thanks.
NOOOOOooooo! a self-slicing pig! Doctors smoking Camels! Strange and wonderful; thanks!
Those are kind of amazing, aren't they....
There's that tv ad on these days that makes fun of the 1950's commercials. It always makes me laugh. There's a 50's style family, and they say, "Meet the Buttertons" - and all the people are absolutely delighted to be eating giant hunks of butter for dinner. I guess everyone enjoys the weirdness of some of those old ads. Fun Hub.
Oh those were great! "Lets buy the kids guns for Christmas dear" LOL
LOL, It is funny how society's values change over the years. I got a good chuckle from this! :D

These are so amusing, because people back then were always expounding on ultimate metaphysical ideals... yet life is never totally clean, as these ads show. For every plus side here there's something life throws in your face... I wondered how the escaped servant got his hernia, I bet he must have been thinking "screw this job".
