The reason for this hub...

I am switching my Miniature Pinscher, Cinnamon, over to Wellness Dog Food. She is currently on Solid Gold: Just a Wee Bit Adult Dog Food but the amount of waste she is producing seems abnormally high. I am not sure if her system cannot digest the dog food or what. I will be starting to transistion the evening of October 17, 2007 and will add notes here as time goes by. During the first month or two, please be patient and check back. I am weaning her off of the old and onto the new food slowly. Thanks!

Links that are very helpful

Ask Susan Peters has a LOT of information on her Dog Food Review. Check it out:

Also, the home page for Wellness Dog Food is:

It has a LOT of good information, calorie count, ingredients, etc.

And, the first hub, where Cinnamon was on a different brand of dog food and I discovered that it was not good for her. Not because of problem with manufacturing, but because the content was just too high in protein for her.

And the results are:

Day 1: I started Cinnamon on her mixture of this food and the previous brand. She LOVES the flavor. She actually picked out all the Wellness kibbles first and ate them and then went back and finished up the rest of the food. She did this both last night and this morning so it is not a coincidence. So far, this is all I have to report. I have not noticed any difference in her "potty duties" yet, but it is a little soon.

Day 2: No noticable difference yet. Cinnamon still had to "go" in the middle of the night and I am sure this is still the old food working its way out of her system. I am hoping by the time the weekend is over, she won't have to "go" in the middle of the night anymore. She still likes the food though and seems more than happy when it is suppertime!

Day 3: Yayy!! Cinnamon made it through the night last night. She did not have to go outside! This is almost like when you have a baby and the baby is starting to sleep through the night. Wonderfully good news. Also, I have noticed that she is not straining so hard when she has to "go". Since she is not going the "job" in the middle of the night but still maintaining her AM and PM jobs, I would say that she is going less meaning her body is absorbing more. This can only be a good thing! I will give this a while yet before concluding my opinion on it.

Day 10: I am sold on this food and will not be changing it any time soon. Cinnamon has been very "regular" in her outside potty routine. Only twice a day and she has not had any "accidents" in the house. This makes it so nice because I really know when she is going to have to go. She is still very excited to be fed so I know the taste factor is there. I have not noticed any problems in her behavior (sluggishness, over activeness, etc) and her coat and eyes look great. If any other factor shows up, I will be sure to post it here.
