80s Hairstyles...which one did YOU have?

I think most people have their favorite era of fashion. Mine was the 80's. In my opinion, 80s fashion was fun and sexy. Not only were the clothes and accessories abundant and wild, but so were the era's crazy hairstyles. I've picked a few of my favorite styles from the age of Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, Bon Jovi, Warrant, Poison, and Prince. Here are a few, do you remember which style was your favorite?

80's Hairstyles

For Women....

  • The Spiral Perm
  • Super short and feathered on the sides
  • Big hair, bangs ratted to the ceiling; with Aqua Net of course
  • The bob
  • The Punk look, bright colored streaks and messy
  • The side ponytail
  • Sides up, rest of hair ratted like crazy
  • The Annie Lennox/Sinead O'Connor super-short cut

For Men....

  • Phrases shaved into their hair; or shaved only leaving a phrase or design made of hair
  • Spiked hair-spiked all over or on one side
  • The famous Joe Dirt mullet
  • The "Flock of Seagulls"
  • Jheri curls
  • The Mohawk
  • Big hair ratted to the ceiling

The 80s were very interesting to say the least. I grew up during this time and have longed to bring it back. In the comments, leave any other hairstyles or fun

Thanks Ryan, thanks for the request, THAT was awesome. I feel special (not the short bus special either). lol

I'm waiting for my mom to send MY big hair picture but I couldn't wait to publish this first. I should've waited, but I'll share it, trust me. As I said, I had big hair with bangs to the ceiling:)

How about YOU?

MissJamieD, what about Patty Labelle's hair style? That must have taken her 2 days to do...

DynamicS--You're right, she did have a good one. There are many people I could name. I may actually unpublish and add them, or just start another hub alltogether....Thanks for the great comment and thanks for reading:)

yaaaa, I had the super short with sides feathered and the spiral perm with lace headband, "Desperately Seeking susan," before that. What the hell were we thinking.

What a beautiful picture of yourself and I remember the spiral perms and the big bangs... How funny lolololo can't forget the big belts. :)

Randy--I totally know the look you're describing...some of them were disgusting weren't they? But I do think much of it was sexy:)

AE--So nice to see you:) Haven't been graced with your presence for awhile, but have been reading your stuff. Love it as always! Yes, the big belts were necessary and now my 11 (almost 12) year old is buying the same clothing, it's insane!

Your pic is stunning, btw.

Love this hub! As for me, I had the spiral perm AND the ratted, aqua-net bangs - kind of a combo look.

I'd love to see a part two of this hub or just an elaboration on the topic - especially since a lot of 80's styles are coming back. I was in the mall with my little sister and there are acid washed tapered jeans, pink spandex, and lace galore in the display windows!

Time warp!

RooBee--Thanks so much for your comments:) I actually mentioned to Ryan Hupfer(one of HP's moderators I think? lol), the person who requested that I do this hub, that I should write another addition. Great idea, thanks for helping me with that decision! Nice to meet you hon:)

I actually had a semi eraser head, though it sprouted out more like a mushroom. (that one was scary) Then just a spiky sting like cut. By 83, I went for the long natural hippy hair.

Paper--Thanks for sharing your 80's haircut styles. Sounds interesting [bit of sarcasm]:) I dated a guy in the early 90's that had straight hippy hair almost to his butt! It was sexy back then:) Thanks for reading!

I didn't personally care for the bob but I loved most of the fashion. Thanks for reading! I hope to write more about this fashion since it's really coming back now:)
