My advice would be to seek a career in advertising. Or you might be able to get work proofreading/editing for a publisher.
These days it it difficult to find well paying jobs that are not general labor without a four year degree. I did work for awhile for a newspaper as an advertising sales rep for the online section. Not all of the print ad executives had degreees, but whenever the jobs are advetised, they always ask for a bachelor degree.
Another avenue you may look into is working as a teaching assistant. This is another position that does not require a four year degree and teachers do appreciate TA's that can actually help the students with reading and language skills.
The last bit of advice I can offer is get your four year degree and if you aren't planning to be an English teacher or a novelist; get your B.S. in something other than English.

I think this is informative. I am looking into business idea with my USP being scrapbooking. The english degree could be used as you write the history of peoples lives down on the pages. It would look more professional with you having a degree in English as you are writing in your business. Proofreading is great and a TA is too. They only make so much and in some cases this is a step up degree where you get your BA in something as well. My best friend got her aosc, ba, and ma in English and now works 28.00 and hr at Boeing. SO it can do stuff.
