Everyone agrees that having a pleasant sense of hearing is one of the most important aspects for our body to function normally. Experts say that imbalance in hearing may lead to several diseases or conditions like vertigo or severe nausea, and can be what causes ringing in the ears.

However, our hearing can be damaged and thus may lead to bigger problems. Several factors may trigger the dilemma but the most common symptom of a hearing problem is the ringing in the ears. So many things have been sought just to understand the real culprit in this problem but not everybody can give accurate information. The big question still lies unanswered: what causes ringing in the ears?

To know the causes, you have to know its condition first. You experience ringing in the ears like a buzzing sound that may or may not be heard by others. Most often than not, it is the patient that can only hear the sounds. The brain sends auditory signals misinterpreting impulses as sounds that are really not there or have not originated from an outside source.

Here's a list of some common causes for this condition:

1. Exposure to loud noise

Exposure to loud noise is the most common cause of ringing in the ears or more commonly known as tinnitus. Damage in the inner ear can cause tinnitus. The vibration sounds that have damaged the ear drum can create unnecessary impulses, which when sent to the brain, it will interpret it as sound.

2. Head injury

Connected to the ears, any injuries that occur in the head can have an adverse effect in the ears. Thus, ringing may take place even without outside source.

3. Meniere's disease

Meniere's disease is an infection in the inner ear. Usually, this is caused by severe moisture within the ears, which, in turn, can trigger bacterial growth. Infection may also damage the inner ear.

4. Serious diseases

Contrary to most popular belief, ringing in the ears is more of a symptom rather than a disease itself. This condition may represent more serious diseases like hypertension, heart diseases, etc. The nerves that go through the ear may create impulses as well that the brain interprets as sound. So whenever there is a problem occurring in your nervous system, you can be sure that you may experience ringing in the ears.

So to learn how to cure this condition, it is best to know first what causes ringing in the ears. In this way, you can be sure what areas to target and cure.

I suggest that you seek a second opinion from another specialist. Hopefully he can give a solution which will not damage your ear.
