What Color is Your Car & What Does That Say About You?
72So Hank and I are always curious about meanings of things. For example,
- What does your favorite era say about you?
- What does your favorite food say about you?
- What does your favorite clothing or furniture style say about you?
- What does your favorite song say about you?
- Favorite movie?
- How about time of day?
- Cartoon character?
- Holiday?
A few years back, Hank and I came across a pamphlet that talked about what the color of your car said about you, as a person. This was interesting to us, because not only did we want to find out about ourselves (tongue in cheek of course, what do pamphlets know), but we had a red Toyota, which we were paying extra for in car insurance due to the fact that it was red. Never mind that it was a bit like pedaling a bike. There’s no way that our tomato can, as we called it, was a speed freak. And neither Hank nor I were foolish with our driving.
Over the years, lots of wonderful colors have been introduced. Based on those colors, you could basically tell which era or year a car was from. For a while anyway. Then came the early ‘80s when you could get your car painted any color you wanted, and were considered cool, or extreme, if you did.
So here is a bit of what we found out, and thought we would share it with you. Not all colors are accounted for here, but as we find more information, we’ll pass it along.
Black
The ultimate power color, black is a popular choice for the self-assured. People who drive black cars want to be taken seriously and have a mysterious quality about them.
Blue
If conservatism had a logo, it would be blue. This color signifies accomplishment, devotion and introspection. Those who prefer blue know how to earn money and are probably successful.
Brown
Earthy tones are generally preferred by people who are unpretentious. They are stable, reliable and shrewd. People who choose brown have a strong sense of responsibility.
Gray
Gray car drivers seek security and are generally sober-minded. They are often described as reasonable, agreeable and helpful, and they don't like to make waves.
Green
Green vehicles have enjoyed immense popularity throughout the '90s. Green symbolizes nature, balance and normality, and those who prefer green are generally well-adjusted, civilized and suburban.
Purple
The color of royalty, purple is the choice for those with above-average tastes but who may be a little vain and temperamental. Those who like purple usually are fond of the arts.
Red
Although opinionated and generally confident, drivers of red cars are given to emotional ups and downs. When you encounter a red car on the highway, keep in mind that those people can be aggressive and impulsive.
White
The most popular car color, it is a frequent choice of the compulsively neat, critical, detail-minded motorists who are cautious and prefer white's highly visible, therefore safer, factor.

What does orange mean?!
Could I have a transparent car, please? Then I'd have to clean it every time I drove and be ahead of trash pick up day! :)
i dont usually do this, but it seems to fit , I have a Hub about color and emotions that will tell you the meaning of colors. Ithink Naddy should drive a purple car, it is for royalty, fine aged wine, and Hank, he is definately black, pimp daddy! This is cool

Apparantly "a substantial portion of the content on this hub appear on other sites" So I'll be writing a bit more to freshen it up. I suppose it needs more personality. No worries. But in the mean time, for all who get this far in reading, there will be some additions, so bear with me as I work on my style.
Very interesting - the description of red-car drivers reminded me of something that I read or heard once - that statistically more red cars are in driver-caused accidents than other colours. Maybe there are just more red cars - or maybe the drivers are more aggressive.
This is all very interesting. I hadn't thought about it much but it mostly makes sense. My car is white and I have indeed heard that it is wise to purchase a white or silver car so that it's easier for other drivers to see you at night. I also just like the look of silver or white cars and a lot of the people I know drive cars in either of those colors.
Feline Prophet, a grey brown probably means a shower for your car may be in order (heehee). I would't say boring though. I don't think you could be boring.
Ashley Victoria (beautiful name by the way) Orange means your happy, positive, and confident, and that you desire attention and want others to appreciate your uniqueness. That's pretty alright in my book!
Oh Patty! You're a hoot. Perhaps one day there'll be a transparent car for you lol. In the mean time, be glad people can't see that you're driving in your slippers and that the floor of your car has that old bag from when you ate drive through, the used tissues, or the many coffee cups from when you went to Starbucks. :D
Fortunerep, I'll get over there asap. It's alright to post a link to it here if you'd like. I'll get it in as soon as I find it. Thanks! What fun!
Iphi, hello! I wondered about that. I don't know if they still do it, but it used to be if your car was red they'd jack up your insurance price. We had a red Toyota suv ish car that we called our tomato can. Couldn't do much in it, but we had to pay extra in insurance anyway. Regretable and humorous at the same time.
Oh, and fortunerep, don't want to say because of the voting and posible peakers :) but you did make me laugh at the thought of Hank being a pimp daddy! What a hoot. I'm going to tell him. Of course this means he'll have to dress the part for a while. Haha!
Journey, yes, lots of people prefer those cars for those very reasons. So then, is it true, if your making a choice based on that, that your car color really says something about you? Hmmm. Glad you stopped by. I'm a lover of teddy bears.

Well, my main reason for buying my car was that it was a great deal for the money. I highlight that and show pics in my hub about buying a used vehicle. It is amazing that some people change their minds about buying a certain car make or model because it is not available in the color they want, as you mention in this hub. I think the mechanics and engineering of the vehicle are far more important than the color.
Here's one by Journey that is a very good and important one when it comes to purchacing used cars! http://hubpages.com/hub/What-to-Look-For-When-Shop
I like the polls. Though it seems as though one of your viewers only voted on the top poll.
Well thank you Paper Moon. Oh thats alright. It's all for fun anyways. You tell Frieda we say hi and we'll see you tomorrow.
What do pamphlets know anyway! This was a fun hub! Hope you both are having a Happy Father's Day!!
Good morning, k@ri. We're had a wonderful time. Thanks for asking. Hank got to sleep a lot and we had a delicious late dinner with the kids. Very relaxing.

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Yes, I am putting a dateline on this story. I am putting a dateline on it because it is 5 degrees outside. I am doing this because the wind is howling, and hard snow (hard snow?) pelts you from all directions, and the sky is the sort of dull gray that drains the color out of everything. I am doing this because it is utterly miserable here, and nobody expects the misery to ...

The holidays are your favorite time of the year, but you can’t tell it by looking at your face. Instead of looking as gay and as ready-to-party as you feel, you look tired and troubled.
Thought I'd add this. Think it's swell. It's the newest VW Bug in yellow.

Ours is a sort of indeterminate grey-brown - what does that indicate? Oh dear, I think it sounds kind of boring multiplied by two! :P
