The Happenings of the Third Heaven

"What do souls do in Heaven?" this question was asked in the religious forum, and I can't blame the original poster for asking this question. The Bible is silent about this issue, and hopefully by the end of this hub you'll know why.

First of all there are three heavens. The first heaven = the sky and atmosphere. The second heaven = outer space, where the stars and planets dwell. The third Heaven is the abode for God the Father, Jesus Christ, and all of the Heavenly celestial beings. Notice that what is missing from this equation are those souls that died in Christ.

Now, what does the Godhead, and the celestial beings of Heaven do there? Well, let's go to the Bible.

Job 1: 6

6Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.

Job 2:1

1Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the LORD.

Isaiah 6:1-4

1In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the LORD sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.

2Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.

3And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.

4And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.

1 Kings 22: 19-23

19And he said, Hear thou therefore the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left.

20And the LORD said, Who shall persuade Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramothgilead? And one said on this manner, and another said on that manner.

21And there came forth a spirit, and stood before the LORD, and said, I will persuade him.

22And the LORD said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt persuade him, and prevail also: go forth, and do so.

23Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil concerning thee.

2 Chronicles 18:18-22

18Again he said, Therefore hear the word of the LORD; I saw the LORD sitting upon his throne, and all the host of heaven standing on his right hand and on his left.

19And the LORD said, Who shall entice Ahab king of Israel, that he may go up and fall at Ramothgilead? And one spake saying after this manner, and another saying after that manner.

20Then there came out a spirit, and stood before the LORD, and said, I will entice him. And the LORD said unto him, Wherewith?

21And he said, I will go out, and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And the Lord said, Thou shalt entice him, and thou shalt also prevail: go out, and do even so.

22Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil against thee.

The entire chapter of Revelation chapter 4 also brings light to what goes on in Heaven.

Notice how there is no mention of man dwelling in Heaven, except in the rare cases where one of God's children was granted access into Heaven. Even Paul was given this honor, but was commanded not to tell us what he saw.

Notice too how what seems to go in Heaven is the Godhead sitting on the thrones, and the Heavenly beings surrounding them, and worshiping the Godhead, but also holding an audience with Them?

If these verses of Heaven are any indicator, then the lack of mentioning of human souls being in Heaven is astounding! The common beliefs of Heaven held by several people (mainstream Christians especially) are not found in Scripture. There is no mention of cloud hopping, of harp strumming, and that's all that can they can come up with.

Thank the Godhead that this won't happen, because it sounds horrendously boring!

The plain truth of the matter is that the Bible doesn't mention what human souls do in Heaven, because they don't go to Heaven.

Heaven on Earth

No doubt some of you may point to Revelation chapter 21, but read some of the vital scriptures concerning this passage.

Revelation 21:2-3

2And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

3And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

Revelation 21:8-9

9And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife.

10And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,

The city of God descends from Heaven!  A new Earth, and heaven are made!  The Godhead moves from their home, and they not only bring Heaven down to Earth, but they themselves make their home with mankind.

In Part 2 I will write about what human souls will be doing on the new earth.
