What Ever Happened to Online Dating

A few years ago in the 1990's, online dating seemed to have been on the rise. With Valentine's Day here, there is wonder if the man wants to meet woman scenario is on the rise on on the fall online.

Emails were automated generated to addresses almost on a daily basis, even on job sites. The most popular of the online dating companies were eHarmony and Match.com. Has the world wide economic recession affected these companies as well as FedEx, Circuit City and Starbucks. Microsoft has laid off up to 5,000 employees. Is there a shortage of data processors and programmers to once again unite the servers that united couples on line. The lastest news about online dating is the quick introduction where you are informed that your city is having a meet and greet of 5 minutes each session. The purpose of these rooms filled with people looking to meet other people are to conjure compatible with other partners. That was quite absurb because the time limit is not adequate to get to know someone unless you are only verifying that his screen name and face fit the online description.

While surfing the net, an article was found that a wife had listed herself as single and infuriated the husband. You would wonder why was she posting on line if she was married. Only that couple know the reason why she wanted to stray and he was not congenial about it. That bit of news was reported by a blogger.

This research on the diminishing of the dating websites should show a substantial decrease in the webpages in comparison of the online dating industry emergence. Because of upgraded technology, it would be difficult to be assured that the person you met on line is the actual person. It has become easier to place a video game super hero for the picture from the image web browsers of Google and Yahoo with the new Microsoft Windows XP computers. Although there was a loss of 5,000 workers, Microsoft is still a viable force in online communications worth over 23 billion dollars. Maybe those 5,000 workers are at the 5 minute meet and greet meeting of couples in your city trying to get a job. In any case the online dating industry that sprung up with the showing of the movie, "You Got Mail," seen to have followed the downward trend of the economy producing a "Gone out of Business Sale

Very useful information, although I'm not a fan of such modern processes. if I was dating again I would still use the old fashin process of boy meet girl, we like each other, spend more time together and go on from there. Not to say people won't find their perfect match online, but shore there is much more pleasure and safety in eying someone across a crowded room. Technology is good and welcomed, dating here especially good for busy people who have no time on their hands to socialise, but I am an old fashion kind of a guy, and I say bring back the old fashion way

Kenny MG, thank you for your comment.

With the advent to digital television that effected everyone, I think that the technological advances are here to stay. In the relationship between men and women, however, the communication of getting to meet someone may have advanced, but once the relation develops, I think that old fashioned ways of getting along endures.

The way that two people are compatible with each other is not changed by the communication devices used to first connect them. The internet is an online and electronic communication setting for example, but there are still real people using the keyboard, monitor and the CPU to get their ideas transmitted through written text.

People are still connecting once they meet outside of the connecting communication device such as the computer. The difference nowadays is that the people involved needs to know when it is appropriate to discuss a topic online versus face to face.
