What Happened to Made In America

Another Recall!!!

Everyday I turn on the news and there seems to be another toy recall by a major company. Today's recall is by Marvel. Their Curious George toys are being recalled due to lead. Once again, the bad element is rearing its ugly head.

But with every recall, parents scream at first and then go right back to buying more toys that are made in China. It makes me wonder, what happened to the Made In America label that dotted so many items back in the 1970's. And why did we as a country fix our own systems in manufacturing only to out source things to countries with no checks in place.

Now we have to be careful no matter what we buy. Will we once again become a nation of producers or will we continue with the trend of 3 million manufacturing based jobs lost since Bush took office to the point where we cant even build our own homes and cars?

Toyota is now number 1 in the car manufacturing. China is the number one steel producer. We export more than 80 percent of our timber to other countries. Where will it end.

We must start producing items ourselves with the checks and balances that we have instituted instead of farming them out to the cheapest country.

I know it isn't much, but it could become "much" if we would all just take a little time and search and buy stuff made in the USA. One person at a time can make a difference. Everyone is so busy with their lives and just trying to survive that we don't even try to buy American. I know it is hard, but it can be done. I made an oath to myself after many years of complaining that I would weed out the foreign junk in my home and either do without or find an American product. So far I'm doing ok. Just my opinion
