Racing to the Finish Line With 100 Hubs in 30 Days

What I have Learned After Writing Over 100 Hubs

I have learned that when you have a goal to reach like the 100 Hubs in 30 Days Challenge, you do not make excuses. You set a quota and you stick with it because even though the challenge was not a competition, others were involved. As another hubpage writer said, more than 24 hours were needed in a day for some writers to complete the challenge. But if you know the time that you are going to allot to the 100 hubs in 30 Days Challenge, you must be determined to not be distracted and to not make any excuses.

Although there is not an office space of hubpage writers assembled and monitoring each other's work;more likely they are at their computers "churning" out hubpage articles as well. If you were not able to commit to the challenge, the smart thing to do was to not participate. I was a bit inconvenienced during the 100 Hubs in 30 Days because I had to borrow a computer, but that did not deter me from doing what I had to do to get my 4 to 6 hubpages completed daily. There is no obstacle too big to get what you need to get done if you try hard enough. I completed the 100 Hubs in 30 Days Challenge in 23 days.

Also, I learned that it is easier to select the content capsules and the revenue capsules before beginning to write the hubpage article. I felt relieved after saving a few unpublished hubpage articles and went to complete with auxilliary features of videos, external links and photos. I discovered that the content and revenue capsules had already been selected . I find these selections more difficult than writing because you have to make sure that the videos photos and links are relevant to your topic.

I also learned when I felt overwhelmed with the 100 Hubs in 30 Days Challenge, I visited the forum and talked to hubpage writers about the challenge of which a few scooted me back. I also listened to encouraging videos on youtube. There is one video on youtube called the Diary of the Mad Hubber where she delineated a few days of her 100 Hubs in 30 Days Challenge chronologically. Someone must have commented that she needed to "get a life" so she video taped the fact that she was working and raising a child. One day she could not videotape her 100 Hub in 30 Day Challege because her daughter graduated school. Although I was the only visitor to her youtube video, I left a comment of congratulations for her daughter.

Completing the 100 Hubs in 30 Days Challenge was a different but not difficult e xcept for the content and revenue capsules because the feat was an individual effort. I was my own boss and I was not about to fire myself. Unless you followed the posts of the hubs that was listed in the forum, there was no way of knowing what the other hubpage writers were doing and how they were progressing. I did a search in the forum for 100 Hubs in 30 Days Challenge when it was just about completed for motivation and found a few posts that was not that encouraging.

So I stopped visiting the forum and instead envisioned hubpage writers intent on completing the task. I learned not to look at how others were progress because each time I checked, I would lose a bit of momentum to press on. I borrowed from the Q&A section of the Hubpage site because I knew the questions would be relevant to everyday living and would harness a certain amount of traffic. I always made my Q&A answers into a hubpage article to add to my 100 Hubs in 30 Days Challenge quota.

I learned to do my own work without checking on or trying to monitor the progress of others. I learned how to get to a computer to the tune of using a public library or community college equipment if necessary to stay with my allotted daily hubpage article quotas. I learned to do the most difficult part of hubpage writing first, which for me was the content and revenue capsules. I learned that others were videotaping the 100 Hubs in 30 Days Challenge that gave me the inspiration to continue. But most of all I learned that I really enjoyed being a part of a team effort with the community spirit at Hubpages to perform a group task with dedication and perserverence.

I need 13 more hubs to complete the challenge which at the moment looks like a herculian task as i am going to be out for the next 2 days and have visitors. Anyways, I am still positive that I can reach there and when i do i think i too would end it with the lessons learned.

Great job, Congrats!

Anamika S thank you for your comment.

I completed the 100 Hubs in 30 days Challenge by using a notebook to write my hubpage articles when I could not use the computer. I do not own a computer and borrowed my son's desktop and my daugther's laptop.

When the computer became available instead of drafting my work at the computer, I typed and produced more hubpages.  You may want to write your hubpage articles and explain to the visitors that you are a part of a challenge and introduce them to Hubpages.  You can produce more  hubpage articles once you have entertained your visitors.

I see that you are a prolific writer and as a freelance writer I know that you have confronted pleasant distractions before.  Anamika, I know you can do it because you have a positive attitude.

Anamika S, thank you for your comment. Your comment was written three hours ago from the time that I read your comment. I want to be the first to congratulate you on completing the hub challenge. If you have not completed the challenge there is still two days left.

Thanks Linda! As far as the logic goes the challenge was for a period of 30 days (from May 11 to June 9) and not 32 days. Well, I am thrilled to see 7 of us emerge winners from the hundred who started. Congratulations to you too!

Anamika S, Congratulations on completing the 30 hubs in 30 days. I see that you went the extra mile and wrote more. Good job. The challenge is not over until tomorrow night at 12:00a.m. I am curious about how many made it over the finish line. It got to be more than 7, don't you think?
