Constipation can be a very horrible experience to go through. Those how have frequent or chronic constipation know how painful and almost unbearable it can be. Most people how do go through this ordeal often have a few constipation remedies that they use which may or may not be of great help. If you are just recently feeling the effects of constipation, you may not know exactly what to do or how to go about easing your constipation symptoms. There are a great many ways that you can help alleviate your constipation, in this article we will discuss how it is that you may have become constipated. Knowing what causes constipation may help you avoid it in the future.
The most common cause for constipation is poor diet. Are you the type of person that is constantly eating out (fast food) because of a lack of time or a busy schedule. Overly fatty foods (fast food) is one of the biggest food related culprits. Most people are completely unaware of big a role your diet plays in constipation related issues. So if you are a big junk food eater and have recently began becoming constipated, your best bet may be to replace a few of those meals with some healthier fiber rich foods, such as, fresh fruits and green vegetables. You may be pleasantly surprised how much of a difference switching a few of those fatty meals with salads will make.
Even if you are not lactose intolerant, an over consumption of dairy products can lead to constipation. Now, I know that we have been taught over the years that most dairy products (cheese, milk, yogurt) are good, healthy foods, this is true and I am in no way trying to dispute that. All I am saying is you are a big fan of dairy products and are now suffering from constipation, you may want to cut a little bit of dairy out of your diet. Start with dairy products that are not as healthy, like, ice cream and sugary yogurts.
Now that we have gone over the two most common food related constipation triggers, we can discuss some other foods that you may be eating which have been known to cause constipation. Instead of giving a detailed explanation of why each of these foods cause you to become backed up I will just give a simple list of the more common constipation causing foods.
- Red meat
- White rice
- Alcohol
- Soda
- Sugary snacks
- Fruit juice (most processed fruit drinks have had the fiber removed from them)
- Corn
- Potatoes
There are some other foods that may increase your risk of becoming constipated by the list above covers all the the most common foods that are associated with constipation.
Another common cause of constipation is something that many people do not like hearing. A lack of regular exercise will often lead to irregular bowel movements. If you have trouble finding the time to workout and have recently started having trouble being regular, you may want to try and squeeze a small 15 to 20 minute workout into your schedule at least 3 to 4 times per week.
Instead of looking far and wide for constipation remedies or home remedies for constipation, you should try to adjust your lifestyle and life a little bit more healthily. You will be surprised at how some small changes in the way you live will effect at how regularly you move your bowels.
