Good day or evening to all of you fellow hubbers and to anybody else who had the extreme misfortune of accidentally happening upon this little hub of mine . I have been dealing with some of the challenges of life and to your benefit have not been around as much as I usually am . I took a sabbatical from the news for awhile because like all of you out there I am just suffering from complete burnout from the constant bombardment of negativity that comes out of my screen during the week . It got to the point where I was contemplating DVRing SpongeBob Squarepants just to get a respite from daily life . And praise God that NFL football Is back In full swing so I have some sanctuary from all the madness

However I found this week to have some Interesting tidbits of media sensationalism that I just felt the overwhelming urge to put In my two cents worth ! Lets start with one of the whoppers of the week . As most of you know Roman Polanski was arrested this week In Zurich Switzerland for an arrest warrant out of my old stomping grounds Los Angeles for the rape of a gal who at that time was 13 years old . Now the crime was bad enough to warrant the attention of the press for sure. I mean cmon man the gal was 13 ! Roman was just a little younger then I am now and I would feel like a cradle robber looking at a 30 year old !

But what I really find so perplexing Is the reaction of the entertainment Industry to all the events that have happened In this Incident . From my perspective It seems like they want It all swept under the rug and he should be continuing his gilded exile In France ! That kinda chaps my hide ! Look I liked his movies too, I thought " Chinatown " with Jack Nicholson and my heartthrob of that day Faye Dunaway was brilliant ! So was " The Pianist " with Adrien Brody . But I know the crime was 30 years ago , however I am just not comfortable with the Hollywood community basically cosigning on to bad behavior , which Includes the likes of , Martin Scorsese , David Lynch and Mike Nichols amongst others . Their basic contention In their petition says that his crime should not overshadow his art ! Excuse me but what planet am I on ? And then of course your favorite social worker from " The View " had to say somethin stupid !

Now please excuse me but I feel the need to move on from that topic as I believe that If we look at Hollywood with the E Entertainment mentality that most of America seems to follow we are Indeed In trouble ! So on to the next Item that caught my Interest . As I am sure all of you are aware of by now the city of Chicago has been dropkicked out of contention for the Olympics for 2016 . And Rio De Janeiro In Brazil was awarded the prize. Now not only did Chicago lose the bid , they came In dead last ! Inspite of the fact our First Lady Michelle Obama and our President campaigned for the bid . I mean we pulled out all the stops ! My God Oprah was there ! I guess she Is not syndicated In Copenhagen . It has often been speculated that the Olympic committee usually get their palms greased In order to Insure a bid from a prospective suitor. But I do not believe that Rod Blagojevich the former Governor of Illinois nor his foul mouthed wife were seen anywhere In the area at this time. So I do not believe that payoffs were the Issue either. But It might not have hurt em to bring some of that Chicago style deep dish pizza with em for the committee . I do not know about you but I love It !

After much pondering I believe I know where the blame lies . Now follow me on this people . Brazil has one of the best soccer teams In the world . They are always In contention at Worldcup time . Now who Is the first name In Chicago sports teams ? BBBBUZZZZ ! Congratulations you got It ! THE CUBBIES !!!! Has there ever been a professional sports franchise that exemplifies futility more then the Cubbies ? I think not !!!

I am sure the Olympic committee took one look at the residents of Wrigley Field and got completely uncomfortable with the thought of the stewardship of their Olympics going to a town that has the Cubbies as their standard bearer for professional athletics ! Somehow I am sure Steve Bartman had his hands In this !!! Now I know about bad sports teams remember folks I live In the town that has the Padres ! If you want bad baseball my beloved San Diego Is the place for you !!! I guess we have not an Icecubes chance In hell of getting the Olympics out west here !!

How much am I supposed to take ??

OK I have been dealing with an awful lot this week trying to digest the bombardment of Insanity that Is presented to me In my newspaper on the Television and here on the Net ! But when I read this I was just stunned ! Kanye West or as our President calls him " The Jackass " has cancelled out on his part of the " Fame Kills " tour with my beloved Lady Gaga

The fallout from his drunken escapades and meltdown at the VMAs embarrassing Taylor Swift In front of the crowd has taken Its toll on his public Image to the point I would be a safer bet on that tour . And I do not sing or dance very well ! And by the way I think Taylor Swift Is a pretty talented young lady ! ( Dont be lookin at her Mr Polanski !!! ) But the part that makes my blood boil Is now Lady Gaga Is gonna have to go out there and sing " Poker Face " WITHOUT ANY ADDITIONAL SUPPORT !! Has the world just gone crazy ? How much Is a man supposed to take before he falls off the edge ? Oh well I got that out of my system !

For now I think I will relent from regurgitating any more bad news to you . I am sure that you are just as utterly exhausted from constantly being hammered with negativity as am I.

I would like to leave you with a couple of last thoughts . Say a prayer for the people In the South Pacific region who have just gotten hammered by those earthquakes . I was watching footage of rescue workers digging through a school . And as Is well chronicled here I am a world class smartass and at times combative on hubpages and In real life . But as most of you know when It comes to the welfare and safety of children I am a complete softy !

And I hope someone has heard from Cris A out In Manila . I have emailed him a few times and have not had a response yet. I checked on some other people I am fond of In the region and they are OK . And for that I am thankful.

I do have one nugget of good news too . My fantasy football team while not In first place Is right In the thick of the hunt for supremacy for the season . So I have not been shouted down and belittled at the office for at least 3 weeks now. So now I am exhausted from conveying my thoughts to you and plan on retiring to the comfort of SpongeBob Squarepants on the TV and NFL football with " Poker Face " as background music ! Bye hubbers !
