What Does SEO Mean
71Use a Good Keyword Search Tool
What is SEO?
What does SEO mean ? It simply means Search Engine Optimization. To optimize means, to make it the best it possibly can be. When you are writing copy you need to write for your readers, make your writing interesting and informative.
On the other hand you need to consider the search engine spiders also. You want your articles to appear as high up on the first page of Google and Yahoo as you can get them. That is where there is tons of free advertising.
This article is about single pages only. A Hub Page, a Squidoo Lens, an Ezine article a page for your Blog or for your Website. Each page should be able to stand alone and draw the attention of the search engines.
SEO for an entire blog or website to draw attention from the search engines is a whole other ballgame. It is another strategey that ties everything together and will be discussed in another article.
There are tons and tons of articles and books out there written on the subject of SEO. There are library's full of them and none of them can really tell you much because the algorithms the search engines use are constantly changing.
I have read at least a half ton of them myself and I can't say that I have learned anything I would or could use use. I am probably not as brainy as the people writing the articles on SEO.
Algorithms are mathematically, the way the search engine ranks each page it reads. Google seems to to pave the way and all the other search engines follow.
What does SEO mean? Everyone asks that question at some point, but I don't see any definitive answer coming forth. What I do know is, search engines penalize keyword spammers.
Here is something to remember: Every good article that is written is loaded with powerful key words naturally. There is no need to spam or plant more keywords. The key is, when you tag your keywords, tag no more than five including your title. Use a good Keyword tool and make sure they are the best ones.
Not many writers tag their title but it is important to do so.
Another little trick: Make your title, one that you can easily incorporate into your article without being too obvious. My title,What does SEO mean is easily incorporated. Can you count how many times it's in this article?
It should be here at least three times [not counting the title and subtitle] and once again in the final paragraph. The reason for this is, the search engines are so sophisticated now that when they read your article they can tell if you stick to your theme.
If the article title is found throughout your writings that seems to make those little spiders happy. They can tell you stuck to your theme and that makes the search engines very happy. You will rank better.
If you don't stick to your theme it will not matter how many good keywords you have in your article you will not rank as well. It is better to write a short article that sticks to the theme than to be writing a rambling one that wanders all over the place.
None of what I am sharing with you today was found by me in any e-book or hardcover or softcover book. It was taught me when I built my website with site build it. I use these tips in all of my writing.

Hi Grant,
Excellent hub on SEO. You are right, algorythms change but one thing is constant, people need to be able to read your content and see value in it. If it is stuffed full of keywords that make it sound choppy, dis-organized, or not real, it won't matter how much traffic is generated from Search Engine position, people won't stay to read it anyway.
I love real life accounts of techy subjects, not that subject matter experts don't know their stuff, but sometimes, as you have stated, you can read tons of books on a particular subject and still not make sense of it all. But read one persons actual account of real life expereince and the door of knowledge is opened up.
Great stuff Grant, love your work,
Mike Witt
