Anybody can write the word of God, and here is how.

(More writing by Alex Caldon can be found in his book The Quest For Truth: On Finding The Grail, which is available from www.thequestfortruth.co.uk. Some people may have the book FREE of charge! Happy Questing...)

Yes, anybody can write the word of God: and no it isn’t blasphemous to try.

As we shall see, the process of writing God’s words is quite straightforward; people who have dedicated their lives to living by Holy Scriptures need have no fear of this idea. If a religious scripture is true, then re-writing the word of God from observable truth will simply result in creating an exact repetition of that scripture. It is allowable for any of us to explore in this way and we should not let ourselves be put off by any religious person who argues otherwise.

So, let’s put the scriptures to one side for the moment, and begin writing the word of God from scratch, based on what we have actually witnessed to be the truth. For the word of God is Truth. Or put another way, Truth is the word of God! There have been many people who have come to realise this, the most noteworthy being Mahatma Gandhi - one of Gandhi’s most widely used quotes is “God is truth and truth is God”. Gandhi allowed himself to move beyond the scriptures and take his learning directly from God; he took his learning from what he observed. Gandhi was brought up as a Hindu, but he allowed himself to correct the Hindu writings. For example, the most famous of the Hindu scriptures, the Bhagavad Gita, asserts that since we are nothing but spiritual beings, and our souls can never be destroyed, then it is acceptable to kill. Gandhi realised the error in this and did not accept this teaching. On the contrary, Gandhi realised non-violence is the correct way to bring about a healthy world, and he amended the Bhagavad Gita accordingly. Like Gandhi, we too can follow the truth, or God, and like him we can write the word of God.

Let us start with some simple truths. Consider what is required to make a seed grow into a plant. The seed at first requires water. We know this is true as if we deny a seed water, it remains a seed. We can then work out what else is required by providing it or denying it. A plant will die without soil nutrition. A plant will die without sunlight. We already have enough truths to write some words of God:

“To grow a plant from seed we must provide the seed with water, nutrition and sunlight.”

This sentence is therefore the word of God. It is true.

In the same way we can, if we choose, write many volumes of the words of God. We can delve deep into the mysteries of the Universe and record what we find, but so long as we stick to the truth then our writings will always be the words of God. It transpires that if we study what is in front of us and record it in this way, all that we are doing is being good scientists. For science is the study of God! Science has many facets, but the common thread for all science is that it is the study of truth.

Let’s take another example from one specific area of science – psychology. We can look closely at the truths of human behaviour and thinking, and so long as what we observe and record is true, then it is still the word of God. Let’s look at one branch of the science of psychology – group dynamics; the study of the behaviour of people as they interact with each other. More specifically let us take the example of family therapy. There are many families which are dysfunctional. Such families can be observed to be stuck in a cycle of hurting. Dad hurts daughter, daughter hurts brother, brother manipulates mother, and so on. A family therapist is quite adept at accurately observing the truths of a family’s behaviour, and through experience the science of family therapy has found ways to bring a dysfunctional family towards more healthy behaviour. It is found by scientists that injecting positive dynamics into the system will eventually heal the family. Each family member is encouraged to be positive towards the other members. For example they might be asked to state explicitly what they like about the other members. When they have been hurt, each member is encouraged not to retaliate. In other words, modern scientists have found it to be true that turning the other cheek can heal rifts between people. Which is exactly what Christ worked out some 2000 years ago! By following the truth, modern scientists have simply re-written part of an ancient religious scripture. What Christ said so long ago about turning the other cheek was without doubt the word of God, and words written on the science of family therapy, are also the words of God.

The question may now be in the reader’s mind: does is this article intended to be the word of God? The answer to that is yes. Whether or not this work actually succeeds in being the words of God is another matter completely. It is the intention that this is a work of truth, and if all of the writing in this article is true, then it is the word of God. But this study was written by a human, and humans make mistakes, and so there is every chance that this writing may contain some falsehoods - these parts will not be the words of God. The reader must make the judgement of which parts of the article are true. But to make the right assessment the reader has to find the courage to look objectively at some new information, and perhaps to change their mind.

Following the truth is not an easy task; we are all so scared of admitting we have been wrong. Which is curious. The closer one gets to the truth, the greater becomes the challenge. And the challenge is to embrace change and to grow.

I hope you keep writing here, because your material deserves to be widely read. Don't be discouraged if comments are not forthcoming at first. It takes a little time to be discovered here. I don't have to agree that truth is God and v.v. in a literal sense, but truth is certainly the aim. It's something we approach asymptotically and we can never be certain to have attained it. Good hub.

The absolute truth can be identified only when you get to know it. However, this is where the versatility of language shows its limitations.

We have come so far without realizing the absolute truth and so I guess we can go the rest of the way without ever knowing it!

Leaving humor aside, I would like to say that after reading Paraglider's hub "freedom from belief," I have to re-construct the statement I usually make to the effect that I believe in GOD.

"I know of the existance of GOD." That's the new version.

Your hub is excellent. Congratulations, and thanks! :)

Your headings are very provocative. I like the way you think.

Quicksand - I'm not sure how reading my Freedom from Belief hub could lead to that particular revision. I would have thought that 'the existence of God' is firmly in the domain of beliefs, on the landing side of a leap of faith. The Rationalist view is that such leaps do not need to be taken.

Truth- I really like your perspective to be able to think independantly. I once asked my father this question that there is a minimum age limit, to vote in elections, to drive and so on but when it comes to religion why the parents tend to introduce their particular religion so early on in life when the child has no understanding about so many things (Ofcourse my dad answered my query patiently that it allows us to be easily acceptable in our particular faith and so on..)

Paraglider, since belief comes under the category of something which requires proof to maintain, I replaced it with "knowledge." Just like the knowledge of the pimple on the cheek, or something to that effect that you mentioned Russel making a reference to.

The rationalist is not an atheist and the atheist is not a rationalist. The rationalist continues to explore, whilst the atheist has stopped, having concluded.

If the rationalist is an atheist, then the claim here becomes as singular as a rationalist screaming that by analogical deduction atheism is the right way.

On my part I never stated that belief is the correct mindset. I was only discussing about my suspicion of the existence of GOD which turned to knowledge. However I did not discuss the events that caused this.

Explaining this "knowledge" is not possible at all. That is why I withdrew from that forum. I realize that my reference to the versatility of language was uncalled for, since I realized that if I had attempted to prove anything, I would only have succeeded in creating some trick questions, the ambiguity of which would have or could have trapped someone into agreeing.

That would have been deception and not proof. Harnessing language to deceive would have been what I would have done!

That's just my version. Of course wide open for correction! I am totally aware that you have an excellent understanding of these things although you prefer not to respond too often!

Have a great day!

Hi Countrywomen, yes the fedom for children to find their own faith/truth is something i feel very strongly about. in my personal opinion it is very wrong to indoctrinate any child, and I try to allow my son to know the truth as well as i can perceive it and as far as i dare reveal.

Good Hub. I often feel like I have a word directly from God. But it doesn't come as spoken from some huge guy up in the sky. It comes as a truth that strikes me in my deepest recesses. I imagine if I was a a Hebrew man living several thousand years ago, I would most likely express these deeply-felt profoundnesses by precluding them with, "Thus sayeth the Lord." I've been berated harshly in these pages for my "blasphemous" acts.
