Fix It 101: What is Wrong With My Hubs?
93I think the biggest question that most new hubbers ask is how does my hub score work for or against me? I think the better question is how can I make a hub that will get both traffic and, some good comments. Yes, I understand that for some, writing hubs is all about making money or suggesting how to make it better. Money is one thing, but even if you have a great idea of Google AdSense or of Amazon or eBay, if your hub doesn't have a good score and won't get traffic what is all that knowledge good for?
That is fine, but what about the new people?
It isn't easy to get started in hub pages and make a lot of money either though eBay or Google AdSense or Amazon, and it's harder still if you don't understand the basics of the hub metrics and the stats that go with it. If you don't understand the basics of a hub score, well, here's a basic 101.
It's not Quite like Blogging, or beginning a blog, but it's close. Here's the main points:
It shouldn't be short like a blog, in my experience people who read your hub will be willing to read more and for longer periods of time, they will also be more forgiving. If for example you write a blog post that is say 1,000 words long, then it is too long. On a hub that is okay, in fact that would be about the average word count to aim for once you have a following of fans and of supporters.
Understand how the hub scores mean to you is a big thing. Unlike on a blog where visitors won't return, or even comment, people will speak with their buttons, they can rate your blog, they can send it to Digg or Stumble Upon, they can comment on it, they can bookmark it. They can even become a fan.
Yes, I know you can add all of these to your blog, but still. It doesn't explain a hub score. In the most basic sense you want a hub to be scored between 65- 100 anything lower, don't publish it. That's the big difference you can see how it will effect your hub score long before you publish a hub.
The other thing is this: You write a hub and you network this hub, much like a marketing plan, and then you leave it alone. It isn't a blog where you add more and more to it. This will be good for the next step.

This hub will show you the power of HubPages finely tuned and super efficient - Hub Score; Why do Scores Go Up and Down
This article explains why the hub scores go up and down.
Relationship with your Readers:Comment back on your hub, people will see it as a link on your profile, and they will also know that you do care about them. I know that sometimes it is hard to do this, I can get 15 comments at once, but try to do this as best you can. I also try to fan people who have made exceptional comments on my hubs, and try to mention them. (Duchess O'Blunt, Scott.Life, Mark Knowles, Creativeone59)
The other thing is tell them that you are going to help them, if it's a really good hub comment on it, and tell them they did a good job, Not just the garden variety of "good hub" but something that stood out for you, or that you're going to share it in teh Social networking sites. ( Digg, Stumble Upon all under the "share It" link at the bottom of each hub)
Okay.. So What's Important?
See results without votingImprove Your Hubs: Simple, check spelling and content, and title, if the title is great but doesn't relate to your hub, then don't expect people to stay, I know sometimes a great title requires some thought, but work on it.
Reading some great hubs helps as well. Bookmark a few. Don't make them too short, as it won't help you in the long run, but also, not too long, about 500-1000 words.
Understand You Hub Scores: This is simple the hub is rated from 1-100 and with 100 being the best we'd all like to aim for that. Basically the hub will begin at about 40-60 as a score (the green number) you want that number high. The higher the number the more likely it will be seen in other parts of hub pages.
I try to aim that my newly published hubs are about 60 or more. I tend to leave them for a day and go back making sure it's done well. It's easy to publish a hub, but patience to make it good, well that is often hard to come by. we like to have fans, and a readership and all of that, but I always ask.
"why does a reader need this?"
If the content is original, the score will be higher, but it's all up to you to edit it, and to make the content interesting.
So, to recap, you want to write some great content and interact with the readers who comment and become an active participant of hub pages. Comment on other's hubs, and take the time to mention other on your hubs.
Just remember, once it's published it's in the hands of people who read it, but the higher you get the hub score before publishing it, the more likely people will take a look. If they know you interact with them they are more likely to read and comment. Take as much time as you need reread it, and above all, have some fun.

Great hub for the newbies and for people who have been here for a while with low hub scores.
Being so new to this Hub publishing world makes one cringe before moving forward. Your information gave me direction. I know that my hesitation was a good thing-since research and being well prepared is important. I also learned that putting others in your hub might afford me some appreciative friendships here-super good tip. So, this is definitely worth saving and commenting on. Thank you. I hope I will have something going here soon.
