What Social Network (Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, etc.) Personality Are You?
73
What Is Your Purpose?
With the rise of social networks over the past five years, people have enabled themselves to be more connected to their friends and allow them to find out what they are doing at any given time without having to leave the comfort of your chair. People join social networks for all sorts of reasons outside of simply being "connected". Some enjoy browsing and peering into the lives of their friends. Others enjoy posting their every move no matter how repetitive it is in nature. Some use it as a dating tool when they find that their socially awkward nature prohibits them from a relationship outside of the comfort of their basement. Whoever you are, it is time that you come to terms with who you are virtually (and I don't mean the super model you created for yourself on the Sims who robs banks on the weekends).
The Browser
A Browser stays under the radar, not letting anyone know he or she is fascinated with checking the status and pictures of everyone on their friends list. This type of user rarely posts themselves and wants to feel more tuned in with his or her friends than he or she actually is. He or she most likely is a reality show freak, feeding off of watching people from Bachelors/Bachelorettes to Survivors to True Lifers. This does not mean that he or she necessarily has no life, but he or she definitely wants more out of it.
Compulsive Updater
A Compulsive Updater floods your updates with countless posts/comments and pictures of what he or she did each night. This person spends just as much or more time online as a Browser, but has no shame in admitting that they are addicted to what others are doing as well as how cool they think their life is. When it comes to pictures, no one has more than the Complusive Updater. He or she will post numerous pictures of every event of their lives from parties to family get togethers to sitting at home in pajamas. The sign of a true Compulsive Updater is when he or she will comment on his or her own photos with comments like "That was so funny" or "Wasn't this crazy" in order to attract others to take notice and comment as well. Most of the time, these are the people the Browsers will spend their time watching, but in all reality the Compulsive Updater is really the one with the insecurities about their own life and try to validate themselves through constant updates/posts.
The Passer By
The Passer By will utilize social networks simply as a means of passing time when boredom has taken over. Unlike the Browser or Compulsive Updater, this person is not necessarily interested in updates or sharing about their own life, but rather utilizes social networks for the fluff. On Facebook, this person is the one who has way too high of a Jetman score or has completed 20 too many quizzes today. In other words, he or she is app crazy. On Myspace, he or she will watch post new videos or songs to their profile despite not ever really commenting on others. These types do not exist on Twitter. Twitter solely exists for the Browsers and Compulsive Updaters of the world. Twitter, in other words, is social networking on speed. If you use something other than these three powerhouses, then your social network doesn't reach much past your relatives.
The Cynic
The Cynic uses social networking sites despite disliking each and every aspect of it. A true Cynic has a Myspace and/or Facebook, but remains detached from the Twitter world. He or she will use social network sites merely to keep in touch with friends that do not live in the general area and rarely share their status with others unless they have important news (i.e. a Cynic does not post wasteful text such as "I'm going to work again ugh..." every single day). The Cynic is always trying to justify why he or she is a member of the site or always tries to have a reason why he or she uses it without sounding like a stalker.
The Other
The Other is made up of people you want no part of: Spammers, Pedophiles, Bands (don't worry babe the band is going to make it!) and non users (real friends? What are you fifty!?!?). Speak with each at your own risk.
Which Do You Think I Am?
Leave me a comment and try to guess my relationship to the social networking world. You will never guess! Maybe we can be friends! By friends I mean we can never meet in person, but lol at our results of the quiz "What Sex in the City character are you?". I'm totally a Samantha...
