Before talking about Topless, or anything about Top, why should we know what Top means? As we know the opposite word of Top is Bottom, so we won't talk about Bottom, even if some picture, or line may point you about that thing. Like as if we talk about Topless, I know you want to see more about Bootomless. if it's art..I can't help that, it's the rule of this site.

If you find out about the meaning of Top, you will see lots of meaning. I look at some dictionary and find out that "Top" means ;

1. The head or crown, in this meaning you know about head, and if you put crown on your head that means, top of your head is crown. This may explains why we put crown on beautiful woman's head when we anounce, she is the top of all women.

2. Top means the highest or loftest point or part of anything; apex; summit. In this meaning the highest of the body, (but hairs are on top), and if we are agree that hairs are the part of head, so it's ok right?

How about Apex? if we find out the meaning of Apex. It means the highest point, the pointed end, or tip. Ok it means the same, similar as Top we talk about. But how about another meaning of Apex from the dicionary. I found that it means "The Climax". Wow do you know about this word? Yes this's the highest point!..., but I don't want the editor ban my hub, so we will pass this meaning, if you want to imagine I can't help that also.

3. Top means the uppermost part, surface, of anything, or covering, as a lid or cap of anything, like as container, vehicle, etc. which can close or open by take or remove the lid, cap, or covering off. Ok we start to come closer about the word "Topless", because...

4. Another meaning of Top is any of various outer garments for the upper body, as a bouse. shirt. or sweater. In this meaning when related to the meaning above ; the uppermost part, covering that can take or remove. So when we take that Top off, It will be "No Top" , "No Surface" , "NO Bouse, Shirt, Sweater". That is "Topless"

So Topless comes from Top + Less ; means lacking a top, like as a topless bathing suit. Or means nude above the waist or hips, like as Topless Dancers. Or means about featuring entertainers, waitress, etc., who are nude above the waist or hips, like as a Topless bar. For now who like the Topless Women? raise your hand!!

When we talk about Topless, why we always think about women who have no top. Why we don't think about men? Is it fair? No I don't think so. becasue men and women have the same interesting, only the level, or the degree of the interesting, or may be about how they can express about what they are interested. In some country or culture, this topic,or activity to express Toplessness can't be shown. Or may talk, share only in men's social.

To place where female toplessness is tolerated or expected, like as "topless beach" or 'topless bar".

Nowadays both "topless beach" and "topless bar" open more for both female and male. Some interested and well known topless beaches where can go see male and female topless are which you can see in some area, such as South Beach in Miami Florida and Black's Beach in San Diego, California in USA.

Beaches permitting topless swimming and sunbathing are especially common in Europe and Australia. In 1990s the researchers found that 88% of Australian university students, of both genders, considered it socially acceptable for women to remove their tops on public beaches. But the researchers didn't say anything about topless male. Should we study about this topic to compare which the women want to see between topless men and women, why we don't need to study about what men think about?...We already have the answer. It's topless women" I am sure. but how about gay, which gay want to see between topless men and women?
