What was left upon the cross: “I love you”

Calvary’s cross is more than a landmark. It is more than a simple sacrifice. It is not merely a quick act of redemption. It is more than a daily reminder of God’s love. It goes beyond the realms of forgiveness.

It is a masterpiece of God’s design. A qualitative characteristic of grace that is beyond every measurable concept. The cross represents the abolishment of our sin—any and every sin under the law of God.

The wrath of God was openly and fully poured out upon the cross—upon the shoulders of His very own Son. The Son who was obedient to the point of death. There are no whys. No hows. Just the truth. It was, in fact, the only way—a way uncomprehendable to man.

There was an exchange, a bargain, and a debt paid. Not by the hands of just any man but with the life of the sacrificial lamb. Innocence took on the guilt. Wrath was wiped out by blood. He who had no sin became sin that all who sinned could be redeemed.
