What Was Was Meant To Be:So Don't Kiss My Ashes

I have a new best friend

Please make his acquaintance. There he is, quiet halls with muffled somber.

Take a seat and a number

He'll call you soon

Perhaps by day or on a heavenly moon.

I didn't quite know him as well as now.

By then the winter wheat had given it's icy bow.

By two's and three's he swept down

This permanent expression a solemn frown.

Taking head their choking breath

Into the silvery veins pour liquid relief

and for another day, a restful sleep, they bequeath.

For one just a boy and girl to hold

Another three girls raised righteous to a Christian mold.

Twenty-four years separate them, 1923 and 1947

My best friend had them marked at birth

Heavenly decent to this Earth

Life hasn't been bad, what happened was meant to be

From grief and despair ye must be free.

Special memories-too many to mention!

I wanted to hold you two just a bit longer...

But my friend has called your number

The Blakely boys outstretched up yonder

Go forward to eternal reward.

My friend has hearkened you to the Lord.

Great heart-felt poem. I like the lyrical style...It's very smooth.
