From the scariest to the most unique - everyone wants to stand out this year to make a statement. Creating your own costume can be the most fun. But if you are not the creative type or simply don't have the time, now is the time to start looking at the costumes that are available for purchase. If you are on a budget, which most of us are, many stores are offering sales and promotions for those that buy early. Things get hectic close to Halloween and prices will rise and the selection will be slim. I skimmed the internet to find the coolest costumes and some of the best deals. Check out some of the costumes I found!

Halloween is a great time to be someone else. Maybe you always wanted to be a super hero or one of your favorite movie or TV characters. Halloween is a fun day to put on your disguise and take a break from the real you. The costume is most effective when you take on the role of the person you are dressed up as... so be sure to brush up on your acting skills!

I picked costumes that I found on sale or clearance. Most are less than $40!

We all get bored with our careers. Halloween is the one day of the year we can pick another occupation without having to go back to school or take a cut in salary.

Do you want more power? Maybe you want to be a FBI agent or policeman.

You want some laughs? Pick something funny like a giant personal trainer. But be sure not to bump into anything sharp or you just might POP!

Halloween may be your chance to do some time travel. Go back to the Egyptian times, the 70's, 80's. Be a prince from a fairy tale, a pirate, a flamenco dancer, Japanese doll or Victorian knight. Take yourself away to another time and place.

Most people think of Halloween as scary time - a time for TRICK or TREAT. So you may want to find the scariest costume you can find and scare the daylights out of anyone in your path. Most of the ugliest costumes come with masks. Masks cover your face so people can't tell who you are and can make a costume much more frightening. I, personally, hate wearing a mask. You really can't keep them on all night because you can't talk, eat or breathe. For that reason they are impractical. Generally when you go out wearing a mask - you end up putting it down somewhere and losing it. So choose wisely!!

Yes!  A sale does linger out there!   Here are some deals I found at 30% off the retail price for popular items like a Pirate Costume and a Gothic Ballerina Costume.   Both were originally sold for $42.00 but I found them discounted at 30% for only $30 - $32.  The Gothic Ballerina has the fishnet pantyhose included which would normally cost $8.99 at Halloween stores!  You don't have to spend a lot to get a cool costume!
