Father's Day Is Coming!

Father's Day is coming! It's waiting on June 21 2009 to be celebrated. I personally and the rest of Indonesian people don't celebrate Father's Day every year. We do celebrate Mother's Day, but Father's Day? No.

Nonetheless, my family and I always try to celebrate each family member’s birthday, including my father’s birthday. It is on father’s birthday that we give Dad a special gift and pray in a small celebration we hold at home.

With or without Father’s Day to celebrate is not a big deal for me, then. When my other friends who live outside of Indonesia are busy preparing for the coming Father’s Day celebration, I feel the same joy and pleasure as they do.

When I see my friends’ blog posts or articles about Father’s Day, or browsing around to find free Father’s Day cards online, I always try to read every line and word carefully. All that is written about Father really touches me deeply. I feel like once again reminded by how wonderful it is to have a Father; the one to protect us when we're little and stay by our sides when we grow up. And I thank God for giving me a Father; he's not perfect person but always try to be one.

And along with my my reading all the friend's notes on Father's Day celebration, I remember those little gifts I used to give my Dad on his birthday when I was a little kid. A card, made by my own self, filled with childish poems and prays, was the perfect gift I could give Dad. And Dad, just like any other Father, accepted it with a smile and hug.

I love you, Dad. Happy Father's Day!
