What Would Jesus Do is More Like What Did Jesus Mean

Truth in Love

Jesus was a fascinating individual that we all measure ourselves against every day that we ask ourselves the famous mantra of "What Would Jesus DO." The saying is known world wide and if one enters into any Christian bookstore it is easy to see it is a strong guidance tool manifested in everything from bookmarks to key-chains and the like. This simple question is far more powerful than most realize and while most aspire to be like Christ, find themselves falling short of being Christ-like. No one is perfect, this is a fact. However, when one looks around today, it is plain to see that there are more people who are of the "What's In It For Me" mentality. This is quite sad as those who are truly in-tune to the message that Jesus was delivering was done so with unconditional love. Jesus wanted people to pay attention to how they acted. He wanted people to be aware of how people treat each other. He wanted people to follow what we know today as The Golden Rule- "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." He saw the hypocrisy in how the rulers of the day preached one thing and practiced the opposite. Jesus was the very epitome of what truth in love really means. He was on a mission of equality, peace, and taking responsibility for one's own actions. He was a fantastic speaker and a true leader in every sense. Thee people of his day did not follow Jesus for these reasons alone; they did not do this just because he was the Son of God; they did this because he was sincere. He practiced what he preached.  Nothing is more powerful than to lead by example. In the end, we should consider what an amazing impact he had on our history, not only from a religious point of view, but as our very existence as human beings. He stood up for his beliefs, against the leaders of his day, and (rightly so), was perceived as a threat by those in power. The end result-he was sacrificed on the cross, staying to his convictions to the very end. There are too few people in the world who know what true love and compassion look like. It is so simple; the face of Jesus himself, in all his glory. It starts with honesty. Honesty may not always be easy, but it is right. You never have to look far for answers, just look inside yourself and look to Christ.-PJ
