What Would the Founding Fathers Think of US?
Our Founding Fathers have been much maligned by the elite secular American media and the post modern institutions of public education. These so called experts, the intelligentsia of America, have to a large degree manipulated minds into believing that at most our Founding Fathers were at best no more than a group of slave holding bigots, who's concept of self government was a hypocritical parochial experiment gone bad, and were at worst shameless self promoters of a now outdated Constitutional Republic that is totally irrelevant in the Brave New World Order to which they hope they have brought us.They sit in judgment on the men and principles that they know not and ridicule precepts true Patriots hold dear, most notably the 2nd Amendment. My generation remembers the Inaugural address of John F. Kennedy which inspired a generation when he said,"Ask not what your country can do for you but ask what you can do for your country." The re-writers of American history would have you believe that quote to be "Asks not what you can do for your country but ask what your country can do for you." The neo-attitude about the roll of government has morphed into " the government that governs most governs best." The idea that we should pass judgment on the founders instead of venerating them is both ludicrous and arrogant. If the Founding Fathers could see what has become of the country that they bequeathed to their posterity and we could behold the dear price that they paid to give birth to liberty we would repent in sack cloth and ashes the calumnies which have been heaped upon their heads. There is no sin so mean as an unthankful heart planted in the chest of an unthankful child. The right question is not, What do we think of the Founding Fathers? but rather "What Would the Founding Fathers think of Us?

The Power to Tax Is the Power to Destroy
It is no secret that America was born out of a Tax Rebellion. Except for military force there is no government power more destructive or abusive than that of taxation, but they are close cousins.Traditionally the more oppressive a government becomes the more onerous the taxes.Tax avoidance has been a cherished cat and mouse pass time of the US citizenry for generations, however we may have reached the tipping point to a full fledged tax rebellion. This was brought about by the Federal Reserve Bankster's open pillage of the country in the form of massive Congressional bailouts for Wall Street, Select Corporations, and the "To Big To Fail Banks". Treasury Secretary Paulson sitting beside Fed Chairman Bernanki told the Congress point blank that if the Congress did not approve the bank rescue [bailout] that they would have to call out the US Military to quell the panic and riots that the bank failures would cause. This apparent blackmail by the Central Bank in effect was a threatened coup d'etat and went unreported by the media. WallStreet announced via television that the United States was now officially a National Socialist Country a fact that some of us had known for many years. A derelict Congress [catapulting the national debt to over $10 Trillion] in collusion with the International Bankers are now driving the American Economy and the American people are awakening to overt traitorous behavior. The only non-violent recourse for the American people is a massive non-compliance National Tax Revolt which is catching fire now. April 15th isNational TeaParty Day and may be the beginning of a "Give Me Liberty..." movement. Many Constitutional Truth movements are springing up all over the country and need support. The Attack on the Truth must not go unanswered. I trust the Founding Fathers would concur.

The important part about legislators is their oath of office "to uphold defend and protect the Constitution of the United States...." which they violate regularly. They have neutralized the vote as a means to get at them but the tax issue is their Achilles heel
Larry,
I enjoyed the hub. You present a great deal of strong information. There are some things that could improve its impact. Having the content in all bold made it hard to read. Much of the information you present are your conclusions. You pose the question, "what would the founding fathers think?". Having quotes about money and money policy of the founding fathers would add some strength to your original premis.
Something I found of interest is the difference in the price of gold from the Continential times to the present. During the stay in Valley Forge, Washington complained about the worthlessness of the Continential dollars, when it took about a dozen of those to purchase a gold or silver dollar. Compare that to how it now takes about 900 of our 'worthless' dollars to purchase an ounce of gold or 14 of our worthless dollars to purshase an ounce fo sterling silver. Factual tidbits such as that would add some interest to your hub.
I enjoyed it. I hope that you enjoy hubpages, where there is always something to learn.
Thank you JD for your constructive comments. The striking similarities between the value of a Continental and a Federal Reserve Note in relationship to Gold or Silver [Real Money] is a very important point here. The critical difference, I believe, was that the Continental Congress directly issued the non-interest bearing but unbacked Continental Dollar while today the Congress has abdicated that power to a private Federal Reserve Corporation which governs monitary policy and also creates unbacked currency which it lends to the government with interest.
Thomas Jefferson was very aware of the dangers of a National Bank when he said,
'I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.'
Thomas Jefferson was so right.
Bravo! Well spoken. It has been an on-going effort on the part of the liberal establishment to rewrite history. To villianize anything that has its basis in Biblical values. To that end our precious history is disappearing. It is almost unknown the American Flag was being propped up by the bodies of soldiers in the revolutionary war.. while battle ships in the harbor were trying to cut it down...trying desperately to protect and defend our rights to be a country. I cry at the Star-Spangled Banner - every time. I get looks of disbelief but I don't care.
Bravo to you Candie for your appreciation of our Christian Heritage. Fort McHenry is the place and Francis Scott Key is our man, but most people are unaware that our National Anthem has several verses. I especially Love verse 3 from which we get our National Motto "In God We Trust":
O, thus be it ever when freemen shall stand, Between their lov'd homes and the war's desolation; Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the heav'n-rescued land Praise the Pow'r that hath made and preserv'd us a nation! Then conquer we must, when our cause. it is just, And this be our motto: "In God is our trust" And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
very nice hub I like your style

As we fall further and further down the black hole will we all know exactly when the light disappears?
In other words, will we all know when "they" finally burn the constitutional document, melt the Liberty Bell down all for the sake of "One Size Fits All"?
Right on Bill, but we'll not go down without a fight! An old Preacher in my state when told that he couldn't fight county government without being swallowed up alive by the bureaucrats was heard loud and clear when he replied, "You may swallow me up but I'll go down sideways kickin and screamin"!!
My favorite quote from the movie Braveheart as spoken by the father of William Wallace is: "Aye we duna avta beet dem, we joost avta feye-dem"
God Bless America
Indeed God Bless America!

One of the cry's back then was, "taxation without representation" and we were double taxed.
Ah, the good old days.
Now, we were have multiple taxes, thanks to our government representation.
