I have been in the customer service industry for many years, in a variety of different businesses. In my experience writing serves several different purposes. When I write something down it is more firmly grounded in my mind. This is the easiest way to memorize material. In this industry the ablity to expand on a theme is the difference between solving your customers needs and not.

I have always written down exciting or difficult experiences, in order to work through them. It is easy to ask for advise from friends and family, but you must be prepared for their reactons (not always the ones you expect). Writing things down allows you to run through all the differet reactions and get comfortable with them.

If you are confused by a situation, often seeing it all written down in black and white gives you an unexpected perspective.

I also have the distinction of being one of those people who think something and it escapes through my mouth. This tendency makes writing so much more effective as a means of communication. Editing is a wonderful thing.

Occasionally these snippets of experience are entertaining or humorous. I want to turn this ability into something enjoyable for others and hopefully profitable for myself.
