What Year Did Air Jordans Come Out

Air Jordans are the greatest basketball shoe and Air Jordans have really stapled the urban and basketball culture in North America and abroad from the very beginning of their birth in the mid 1980s.

The Air Jordans, brand of Nike basketball, is named after Michael Jordan. The deal was signed by Jordan with Nike in the year 1984. Michael Jordan, the basketball maestro, is being immortalized by Air Jordans; and as an Air Jordans ambassador he was popularized as a fashion phenomenon in those days.

In 1987 Nike came out with a logo depicting Jordan doing a slam dunk. Jordan's famous shoes come from the star guard, Michael Jordan, on the Chicago Bulls NBA. Air Jordan model featured the "winged basketball"; Air Jordan logo for the first time was on the outside at approximately ankle level.

In the year 1985 Air Jordans made first edition of Nikes, fashionable and sophisticated. Air Jordans and Nike are so comfortable that they have maintained their names till date. Designed by Peter Moore, the 1985 Air Jordans came up with new style where they made two lace arrangement each color matching the color of the side it was in, viz. a red/black shoe had red and black laces.

In the year 1985, Air Jordan shoes retain their Nike identity where they provided a six digit serial number out of which the first two digits are representative of the year of manufacture (to be found at the inside of the ankle, just after the size number).

1985 Air Jordans are indicative of the year of initiation, but these first edition shoes can also be found with 84 and 86 manufacturing also. Air Jordans are famous for their low top with 17 major colors designed separately for women and youth categories which were named as "Sky Jordan" in the same year.

Canvas Nike 1985 Air Jordans have a very special name called "AJKO". These initial versions were again remanufactured during the year 1994 along with the second and third versions. These had serial number starting with 94, but the feel and look of the shoes were very much alike 1985 Air Jordans.

This was done in order to mark the famous base-baler Michael Jordan's comeback to basketball. But the sale graph of the company was much better during the year 2001 when these were built along with custom leather.

To sum up the history of Air Jordans, we can focus on these facts: To start, the first Air Jordans to appear were Air Jordan I. designed by Peter Moore, this Air Jordans was released in 1985.

In the very next year, Nike Air Jordan II launched its second release designed by Eric Huber of King's College. Next in the Air Jordans family come the Air Jordan III designed by Tinker Hatfield. Then come the Air Jordan IV released in 1989. Maintaining the design continuity, it was again designed by Tinker Hatfield.

February 1990 saw the launch of Air Jordan V. Tinker Hatfield remained its designer to keep the tradition ongoing.

In the latter half of the same year or in the early part of the following year, Air Jordans inevitably introduced Air Jordan VI. We have to wait till 2007 to see the most recent version of Air Jordans, namely Air Jordan XXII.
