What You Should Know About Angular Cheilitis
65
Angular Cheilitis is a form of health condition that affects the edges of the mouth in the form of lesions or sores that may or may not have blood or pus. It is more than just a physical problem - it's also a social and psychological one as well. This disease affects millions of people worldwide, most especially children, teenagers, and the elderly. It is also known by such names such as Angular Cheilosis, Angular Stomatitis, and Perleche.
Medical science still has no clear-cut proof as to what actually causes the disease to occur, although prior to this, signs or warnings come in the form of dryness or cracking of the skin of the mouth. Once this starts the cracks or sores become infected with various pathogens of the fungal and bacterial strains, thus complicating and bringing about more pain and suffering to the affected person. Research on the subject points to a person’s lowered immune system, malnourishment, constant exposure to extreme hot or cold weather temperatures, thumb sucking and bottle-feeding among children, and ill-fitting and unclean dentures in the elderly, among others.
Contrary to some beliefs being spread by highly-uninformed individuals, Angular Cheilitis is not contagious. Although its appearance and symptoms are similar to some other forms of skin diseases, the condition will not spread to anyone nearby, or cannot be transferred to having close contact with someone suffering from the disease.
Modern medicines such as anti-fungal and anti-bacterial creams, and anti-biotics are not effective in treating the disease, and in some cases may aggravate the condition. Instead, home remedies using common household products seem to make a headway in stopping the disease in its tracks, and then to completely eradicating it.
If you're one of those unlucky ones who always seem to get the condition many times a year and have already tried medicated creams and anti-biotics, yet still continue to suffer from it, then why not try some alternative medicines. Who knows it might just be your only effective solution to be rid of Angular Cheilitis forever.
