There are many different types of sleep disorders that people from around the world suffer due to different types of problems.  These different disorders include insomnia, sleep apnea, narcolepsy, and more.

Insomnia

Insomnia is one of the common sleep disorders that cause people to have an inability to sleep at night or at all. There are many different things that can cause insomnia which can include lifestyle, mental health problems, and more. Insomnia is a sleep disorder that can last for several weeks, a month, and it can even be situational for some people. Severe cases of insomniacs do not sleep at all but they are commonly tired, unable to concentrate or think properly, and cannot enjoy the quality of life. Insomnia can be a symptom of heart failure, anxiety, depression, and even side effects from a medication.

Sleep Apnea

Sleep apnea means that the person is not breathing. What happens is that when the person is sleeping their airways close up at night. This may occur behind the tongue or nose. This can happen to a person while they are sleeping for up to 120 seconds and when the brain recognizes that it needs oxygen then the person wakes up traumatized and struggling to breathe. This is one of the most dangerous of the sleeping disorders because patients who have this are at risk of heart attack, disease, stroke, and even high blood pressure. Someone with this disorder is often tired all day because they frequently wake up during the night so much.

Narcolepsy

Narcolepsy is another of the sleeping disorders that can be dangerous. This disorder begins in adolescence. This can be hereditary but can occur when it doesn’t exist in a family also. This type of disorder can cause someone to have a sleep attack. Rather than having an inability to sleep like apnea or insomnia the person will fall asleep no matter where they are or what they are doing. This is what can make this so dangerous because if they are driving a car then they could risk another driver on the road, any passengers, and their own life.

Restless Leg Syndrome

Restless leg syndrome is considered to be another disorder that affects your sleep. The way that this affects a person is that the person will have a consistent internal itching in the legs. This itching will cause the person to continuously move their legs throughout the night to rid the sensation. The person may feel like they have the eeby jeebies and need to get up and walk the room. As soon as the legs stop moving the sensation returns to the legs again. These sensations can occur in late in the afternoon and evenings. You don’t have to be lying in bed for it to begin.

There are many different types of sleeping disorders that people from around the world suffer due to a number of reasons. Stress is one of the biggest things that cause people to have problems sleeping. Other factors that can affect the sleep include obesity, medications, anxiety, disease, and much more.
