What You Think About You Bring About

Choose Your Thoughts Wisely

I pondered for a while before I wrote this hub as to not come off as some sort of crack pot or metaphysical guru. I wrote it anyway. As my title suggests, what you think about you truly do bring about. I don't mean that you can magically wish yourself into well being. I don't mean you use some sort of ill defined law to conjure up wealth and happiness. It is really not that simple.

Have you ever purchased a new vehicle and suddenly you noticed vehicles just like yours everywhere when earlier you had seen none? Those cars didn't show up just because you bought yours. They were there all along. You just weren't looking for them because you had no interest. You didn't notice them. You weren't thinking about them. Sure enough though, when you thought about them, there they were. Opportunities are exactly the same way. They are always there. You just choose not to think about them but as soon as you think about the opportunities, you will begin to see them. The more you think about an opportunity the more you begin to draw it to you. You begin to take actions toward that opportunity you are thinking about, you pursue that opportunity. Maybe the pursuit of the opportunity is what makes it appear in the first place. Bear with me for a minute.

I had wanted a Subaru Outback, because I really liked those cars. I began to focus on Subaru's, study about them, sit in them at the car lot, and visualize me driving mine. That in itself is no magic. The magic lay in getting rid of my Dodge Hemi Quad pickup truck. Not a real desirable vehicle anywhere on this planet except to the bank. It' value was somewhere between zero and give me money to take it off your hands. So I began to visualize the car dealer paying me a specific sum of money as trade for my truck so that I could make the deal. Long story short, I focused on that number for three months while continuing to try to sell my truck myself. I visited a different dealer in the same town and asked him what he would give me for my truck on trade. Without a word from me he offered the figure I had been focused on. As I told you in An Optimistic Life, a pessimist may say "oh well, it would have happened anyway". Maybe.

If you could, just for a moment, accept the fact that if you believe long enough and hard enough with enough depth, great things will happen. Why would you not do that? We as human beings are far more connected spiritually to the Universe than we care to acknowledge. Perhaps we have become so hardened within the confines of our own cultures that we have lost those very traits that made us spiritual beings to begin with. Primitive cultures depend far more on their spirituality than we "civilized" peoples do. We have had our spirituality regulated, degraded, educated, and medicated right out of us. It is as though some great cosmic ShamWow came down and sucked all of our spirtuality out of us and replaced it with practicality, provability, and paranoia. Why do we need spirituality in this society anyway.? We have wonder drugs, technology, and unlimited visual stimulation to take its place. There is no need to believe in the Great UnSeen. After all, it can be reproduced on the big screen and be far more interesting in High Def right?

We are approaching the eve of a religious holiday and what do we think about? Sales are off at the major department stores, the Dow's still going down, Oil is going down (go figure, that used to be a good thing) and we never take the time to be spiritual. Maybe because we don't believe it pays enough. The one thing we rarely think about is the price of not believing. Believing in something bigger than you, the mysteries of the Universe, God, the Father, the Great Mystery, whatever you call it is what matters. You need to get back in touch with it. It never left you and you can't leave it. You can just put it on a shelf, or the back burner or out of your mind, but it will never leave your soul. What you have to do now is trust in it. Go find someplace alone, sit down and listen to the wind or birds or anything in nature. They know. Or read The One Command. I can't hurt and you will walk away from this holiday better than when you came. You can't always change the condition around you immediately but you can change the conditions within you now. Believe in yourself. Believe in others. Believe in Big Great Things and Big and Great Things will happen. This is a no brainer. It doesnt' cost very much and it lasts a long while. I've rambled long enough.

Thanks for indulging me. DrJim

I like the analogy of noticing the same car as you have around you. I do that all the time, even though I'm sure cars/opportunities have always been there... it's all about perspective!
