I usually brew a strong cup of coffee and either drink it straight OR ice it.. It keeps me going for a few hours.. I have a basic cleaning routine... With two toddlers and a large dog it can be a difficult chore to manage with everyone underfoot! So, I usually put on some music and my sons help me pick up their toys so I can vacuum.... I use my shop vac and get into the top corners of the room and work my way DOWN !

I also turn off the valves to the toilet(s) and pour into the bowl(s) about 1-2 cups of bleach and let that sit while I'm cleaning other rooms.... I also fill the tub with really hot water and pour in about 4-5 cups of bleach and let that sit as well.... I spray the tub/tile surround with formula 409 and wipe down the countertops/sinks/toilets with a disenfectant wipe(s)....

Remove rugs/towels for laundering and bring to the laundryroom... Sort laundry and start a load.....

I make all the beds- on FRI I usually launder ALL the bedding- while the bedding is off the bed I vacuum the mattresses and febreze ! I dust/vacuum.... DONE !

In the kitchen while the kids are eating I'll spray the countertops with CLOROX anywhere sanitizer and wipe down appliances.. I unload/load the dishwasher and sweep/mop the floor !

Vacuum the office and vacuum....

*Make my way back to the bathroom and swirl the bleach around the toilet and wipe the ENTIRE toilet down... Rinse the bathtub/sinks and sweep/mop floors...

All in all it takes about 2-2 1/2 hours of steady cleaning to throughly clean my house....

I have a general daily cleaning that I spend about 1/2 hour in each room and wipe down the furniture, appliances etc... It really helps on the days I do DEEP cleaning..

Hi there Trsmd!

You are a really committed cleaner! And going by your picture - a man?

What a shame I'm already married!!! :-)

Anyway - that's a lot of bleach. I've inherited an aging farmhouse (family farm) with 3 toilets, 3 showers, and one bath. How many cups of bleach is that???I wash all of the sheets and towels each Saturday, with extra towel washes during the week as needed (actually, the washing machine goes on each evening - I'm a working mum). My children make their beds each morning (and strip them for me to wash) - and even though the beds look a bit messy, they are learning.

I use spray bottles of multi purpose eucalyptus spray to clean and disinfect the benches, bathroom etc. I squirt on hospital strength (thick) bleach around the toilet bowls and let it sit for a while.

We are on a septic tank (out in the bush - or in the country), so I like to go easy on the amount of chemicals that I use. Elbow grease goes a long way!

I also try to geteveryone to rinse and stack their dishes into the dishwasher as they use them. It saves me time, and teaches them about responsibility.

But I hate cleaning....

I solved the problem by sharing the load. I look after the cooking (and cleaning the kitchen) - my partner looks after the laundry.

We dust the house when we can see it on the surfaces and vacuum once a week.

We are still trying to train the cats to wipe the window ledges for us but the dog does a great job making sure there is never a scrap of food left on the floor to fester!
