What are some of the important lessons Christians can learn from the Beatitudes?
68Matthew 5
The Beatitudes
1Now when he saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, 2and he began to teach them saying:
3"Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
5Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
6Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.
7Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
8Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.
9Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called sons of God.
10Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

As a Christian, this is my take on the beatitudes. HUMILITY OF HEART. It talks about being a peacemaker, having a pure heart, being merciful, being meek, mourning for those who are mourning and being poor in spirit. What are all these telling me? To adopt a Christ-like attitude. To be humble.
None of these things can be done with a revengeful, selfish, self-seeking heart. One has to hurdle all selfish intentions and look beyond what is self-serving to be able to achieve humility.
What kind of heart is God drawn to? A humble heart.
There is one corner in this universe that you can be certain of change : your own self, your heart. ( intimate place) Humility has its roots in Christ. He is the picture of genuine humility. He authored it, as a matter of fact.
When you lean towards humility, it draws the very finest in life.On the other hand, pride will alienate you from Christ. God is not against the proud, but He will resist the proud!
The "beatitudes" actually serve as a good reminder of how one should face life regardless of the circumstances one encounters. Whether people treat one kindly or unkindly, lesson is, our life barometer should always give a steady read: A person with a humble heart and spirit.
This is where a blessed life begins to blossom.

Yet sometimes, being humble really takes a lifetime to achieve. So many lessons to learn first, and hit rock bottom (sometimes) before we can be stripped off of our pride. Thanks for the request. It made me think about the beatitudes as well. God bless you and hope to read more of your hubs.
