What are supernatural powers?
82Its not that i have some done some sort of research on the matter or have come across any supernatural power or I myself one (ha ha ha, just kidding). With this hub I just want to present the concept of supernatural power from a different perspective.
I have tried to use a very simple logic to put forward my point. I discuss this topic thinking that it will help us learn more about our surroundings and belief. Please feel free to correct me as required and add to the discussion any related information.
The logic goes as follows.
Assume a hypothetical condition where there be a two dimensional organism living in a two dimensional world (Though there is nothing in this world which is two dimensional; everything has some length, width and height or depth) and it has enough intellect to understand its surrounding. Now let the organism be put in a three dimensional space, say a hollow sphere. The organism being two dimensional does not understand anything in three dimension more so because it has always been in a world where there has been only two dimensions.
This lack of knowledge in the organism about the third dimension will be evident if it is asked to make one complete round of the sphere internally. It continues to move even though it has come back to the starting point. Its because it has no understanding of third dimension as he/she himself/herself is of two dimensions and has lived in such world around. Even though it moves in the sphere in a curved path; to the organism it appears that it is always moving forward on a flat surface and in a straight line.
Similar is the case with we human beings. We are still not capable of time travel, nor do we understand it. So it happens that if any other organism (lets call them UFO's for the time being) which is capable of travelling in time, when it travels somewhere around our vicinity, we call it supernatural power. Some will say its God, others will say its Ghost, it all depends on our belief. We being a three dimensional organism, do not understand the fourth dimension yet and hence we give such things the name of supernatural powers.
But think of the day when time travel will be understood and possible, will it be that the human will be called the supernatural power or is it that the very definition of supernatural power will change?

Today things which are beyond logic are expressed as supernatural forces according to our beliefs, just like the omnipresent all mighty believed to be god, is accepted as the creator of this universe, which need not be true! As our science is yet to understand the other dimensions (believed to go upto 13), we fail to comprehend what is beyond our knowledge and call it by different names.
i agree there can be supernatural forces
I agree. It's all a matter of perspective.
A hundred years ago people thought flying was an impossibility.
I beleive there are things out side of this world which we cannot yet comprehend. We ( people as a whole) cannot even comprehend al the things that occur here on earth.
Yes Ms Chievous you are correct, human is yet to unveil lot of mysteries of nature and personally I think we are just at the tip of the iceberg
I do believe there are supernatural forces on this earth, and we humans are just starting to find this out more and more everyday:)
Thanks for stopping by. Actually I feel the definition of supernatural power is itself bit hazy. What we don't understand, we give it a name of supernatural power tomorrow when we will understand, it will no longer be super natural. It all on the way we take things as! Thanks for visiting
Your logic is straightforward and makes a very good point. There are many things we do not yet understand, one of which is the human brain. The thought that we don't understand something so integral to our being seems, to me, to prove the point that there is so much out there that we do not know! We think we know so much and we are so advanced, but we don't even know ourselves! :D
Well said k@ri and thanks for stopping by. Yes there are so many things to know and so many things to learn and the more we learn the more we get curious
It is a well known that you can only learn 1% of the univeses secrets in a life time
Thanks for stopping by Tim, maybe one can learn only 1% of the secrets of universe in a lifetime. what if a culmulative effort is made??
This is an interesting analogy Packerpack, and probably not too wide of the mark. I've had some interesting experiences of my own over the years, and I've witnessed telekenesis and psychometry, and know that neither were fraudulent. Just because we don't understand things doesn't mean that they will remain a mystery for all time. As a child I remember watching Star Trek and being very impressed with the communicators. At the time we didn't even have a home phone, and now everyone has phones in their pockets, and some of them even flip up like the Star Trek communicators!
Thanks for stopping by Amanda, yes not everything that meets the eye is true similarly, things that do not meets the eye may not necessarily be non existent
A beautiful and succinct way of expressing this logically. The sun was supernatural only a brief time ago in the scope of human existence.
Glad I book marked this and came back to read it. :)
I also agree about the incapabilities of humans to understanding things that are above our comprehension. We are imperfect beings and at one time were perfect. We only use 7% of our brain. Think of what we would comprehend as perfect people using 100% of our brain and then maybe we would be able to understand more about the complex supernatural world.
I also beleive some people may be able to use parts of the brain that most humans cannot use. for whatever reason those are the ones with the said "6th sense" that they have a sensitivity to the other realm (supernatural realm) whether they hear, see, or know things that others cannot explain or even imagine. Thats my theory.
Hey thanks for the comments guys.
Paper Moon -> Glad that you found my Hub interesting enough to book mark it. Thanks for the comment
LAmatadora -> Thanks for stopping by. I had heard that an average human being do not use more then 2% to 3% of their brain in their entire life. I think people using 7% of their head are the once who are the most intellectual people on Earth. Well yes one can image the day when an average human will be using their brain close to 100% (nothing can be 100%). I guess all problems of the world will get solved but at the same time the world will become more complex and competitive
Your exlplanation coincides with the top scientits of our times.
Thanks for such a great comment Mohit, you have put me at par with present scientist. Thanks a lot
this a really good analogy!
i think people can't use the rest of their brain because they were taught that they can't. kids are more creative because they do not know that they cant do better!
the more knowledge we get the more the limitations are.
True, the more we learn the more dumb we become! Education should open our mind instead of blocking it! Thanks for visiting!
if there is god why cannot he help those persons who are help less or mad moving on the road . why cannot he help the dying person . so i belive that thre is nothing like god .
i think that all humans are are a like in alot of ways but there are some humans that was here before any other species of man or beast or insects of fish even dinnosoars there is no right exsplaynation for we have started for the beginning and shawll live to see this planet earth grow untill it also turns into a life with no boundreis.no air no water. no fire void
I don't believe in God but in supernatural powers. It is logical for me, just as your thoughts are. What do you think about that?
