Where to find a job?
Depending on your qualifications, your search can become easier or harder. There are many sites to just post your resume of which I will list in links below.
Many people underestimate government jobs, but they come with great benefits and health care plans, and often require only an associates degree and maybe managerial experience. In some cases it is best to have a friend with a government job and a few recommendations could help.
Of course there is also the home based business route which I will explain and list some that I have found to work. I feel it is the best method and what I currently use, you can set your own hours, make a full time income in part time, and do even better with a full time effort.
Do not forget the old school method of checking the classified ads of the local newspaper. A lot of good jobs can be found, and if you are a salesman, some very lucrative telemarketing opportunities.
Work on your own part 1
I can tell you there is nothing better no boss, your own hours, and you determine your income through your efforts. Of course there are two routes the traditional brick and mortar business, and then the newer home based or web based business.
Brick and mortar businesses carry a much higher price. Depending on where you live property is constantly getting more expensive resulting in an increased start up cost. Luckily there are grants and small business loans you can get to help. The government wants you to succeed, then they tax you and make money.
With a franchise it is near fool-proof, throughout the entire process you have a big corporation helping you out, they don't want to see their own products fail. Of course that is more expensive than opening your own shop, but you pay for a well known product that you know will attract customers. You also pay franchise and advertising fees, basically money so they can continue to look over your shoulder at every turn. Both costs average about 10% of gross revenue together, that is 0.10 on the dollar for every product sold before you get your cut. On the other hand the name itself promotes your sales, who wants "corner store subs" whne they can have "subway." Remember though you are still working for the franchise itself, if you slip up they can take your stores and sell them to other franchise owners, they also dictate what you can sell at all times.
If you open up something yourself, you will of course save on franchise fees, but still incur advertising costs even more to get your unrecognised name into the community. Some friends of mine are opening a gelato store in my town of coral springs. Although it is small, it's a fairly populus city with a higher than average gdp per capita. I disagree with their location, ice cream places feed off of business from other restaurants, they are always like a dessert place. They are going to feed off of a take out only Papa Johns. Now of course the first year or two will be harder than with a franchise, but they have a higher potential to succeed, they can fully dictate hours, products, and freely add to their menu at anytime. You can also set up things like vending machines to increse revenue at each location. If they so will it, they can also become a franchise eventually and sell their name across the country, sit back and collect from others efforts. Just remeber to go in with a solid plan and serious goals for your first few years.
Some franchise or brick and mortar businesses I recommend:
Subway:$25,000 high- low overhead and start up costs, and heavy traffic due to $5 footlong subs. low-you will probably be the manager to reduce labor costs, and will have to open many stores before you see any great profit.
Office cleaning- high- work at your own speed, and very low start up costs, just cleaning supplies. Commercial is the best way to go and you charge your own rate. You can also hire others to do the work and just book clients once you get established. low- you have to gather your own clientel and be careful what you charge them or they might seek lower rates. Depending on the area, a lot of competition.
landscaping- high - if you bundle the service with others like maybe waste disposal for pets, topiary, pressure cleaning, or whatever else (you can tailor packages depending on client), you can make a LOT OF MONEY. Businesses often need many of those services and others so they rather higher one reliable business to do it all. low- High start up, you need machines and employees, and you also get paid monthly so have a cash reserve to make sure your workers stay with you. You will need permits and also you must build your own clientel.
Some I do not recommend:
Dunkin Donuts- You sign a 5-yr $5 million dollar contract and not the good kind. You have 5 years to open 5 of them or take over 5, each one costing $1 million to open up if building, and the price to buy will vary. None are corporate owned so you will be buying from fellow franchisees who could not keep up to par and either dunkin corporate will take their store leaving them with nothing, or they at least sell and make some money. Also with the low price to make coffee, everywhere is now selling it, such as bagel places and other breakfast stores with a wider selection than dunkin donuts.
Work on your own part 2
Now is my preferred method, the home based business. In some sense this is a higher risk, why, because there are scams left and right these days, and they all sound good until you lose a couple thousand. Of course you could set out on your ow, create a successful website and make moeny from ad revenue, if you don't believe that is possible watch the following 3 minute video before I cuntinue.
teenage millionaire
Work on your own part 2 continued
Now those cases like the one above are fairly rare, I know some people wondered how myspace creator Tom made his money, well teenagers are making more money nowadays and are becoming harder to reach. With a short attention span they often ignore or skip through commercials. That group is so sought after by advertisers that they would pay thousands monthly just for the chance to have the audience click on their ads, thats why their ads are often times in the form of a simple game.
You do not need much experience for the example above but it is very time consuming. Other home based business ideas involve selling mostly. Now I can say after tryng almost everhome business type from mlm, to direct selling, to cash gifting, thjey are technically not scams but the truth is the people at the top always make the most money. They have he most experience and once you get below them, in many businesses you become competitors. Sure they say you can make 20k a month but very few programs actually help you achieve that. I suggest if you do decide to join one, be prepared to spend 1000's in advertising just to begin to catch up, but persistence is key and I have had great success with some of them through e-mail marketing and pay per click ads.
Many people hear about how surveys are scams, and data-entry is a crock of bull. The incomes you see people making from them is true, but remember the people making 20k a month are now your competition, and the have higher ad budgets. I have had moderate success with clickbank and data entry but first let me explain it. You become a clickbank affiliate and you sell other eoples products online and thy give you a cut of each sale, that is what data entry is and you are not guaranteed payment on everyone you do, only when someone who clicks your ad and buys will you get paid. I make around $600 a month with data entry, but my ppc costs are about $150 a month.
Surveys do pay sometime $75, but those I have only qualified for once, all the other times they reroute you to the surveys that pay $1 or $2 and take around 20 minutes to complete. I am always doing research on new money making methods that work and I will continue to post some here.
MLM I think is a great opportunity. I found a great business at http://lhn.automatedincome.us it's called Liberty Health Net and I made almost $300 my first 2 weeks. It is a business where everyone helps eachother and you grow from there. It is easy to promote and my organization gets bigger every week.
Make money wtih blogging and surveys
Other methods
DROPSHIPPING- This is a fairly easy method and if combined with Ebay can be very lucrative. Basically you find a wholeseller of a product adn list your products on Ebay, whenever someone wins the auction and pays you for the product, you log in to you dropship back office and pay for the product and enter the buyers shipping address and the item goes diectly to them and you keep the difference. I will provide some dropship referrences below.
Blogging- This can take a while, you need to find an unoccupied popular niche, but the market is very saturated nowadays. Whenever you want to talk about something, know there are others who want to do the same, just provide a place where you can all do that and place ads on the page and advertisers will per per thousand hits to the page. Sometimes it can be very little but if a lot of visitors click the ads you can eventually make more per thousand visitors, just be patient and advertise your site.
Buy and sell expired domains- This can be very tricky. Often times people create domains and send traffic there, then when they forget to renew they still have a steady flow of traffic. These pages are often used by paid traffic sites to send visitors to their customers. If you can find good ones, you can buld ne sites on the domain and place ads and already have a revenue coming in. You can also resell the domainsthat have a steady traffic flow.
Home assembly jobs- Most of these can be scams so be careful, they pay you to put together little trinkets to strict requiremnets. If you find a solid opportunity and are able to contact someone already doing I suggest giving it a try but only do ones that give you materials free.
Judgment and asset recovery- One I will be starting soon, you work with courts on cases where people are owed money and never received, I have researched it for months and I will actually start it the beginning of February and I will keep everyone updated. It has very little competition as there are cases acrossevery state. I have not found any complaints about it and I personally know a person making around 8k a month as of right now, in their 3rd month. This I recommend the most.

No problem, any questions feel free to send me an e-mail at bizb4fun@yahoo.com you have to look out for scams, I have been scammed a lot before so I try to save others the money.
Very informative. I could only think of career builders before, which is what brought about the request. Thanks for the list of sites.
I would include Indeed.com as a great portal that aggregates listings from numerous other job sites like careerbuilder, hotjobs and monster.
Depending on your chosen profession, there are also industry-specific venues. In the non-profit sector for example, idealist.org and devnetjobs.org are good resources. Job functions like marketing (marketingjobs.com) & IT (ITjobs.net) also have their own hubs.
Management executives and professionals also use headhunters/recruiters. There exist large global recruiting firms (e.g., Heidrick & Struggles) and a plethora of location and industry-specific players (e.g., The Talent Business) as well.
I like your summary of franchsing opportunities. A good friend (a successful photographer's agent) has always said that would be his retirement business, something like a Subway or Popeye's!
Thanks for the additional sites, tell your friend not ot do popeye's, it's dying out there and the food is more expensive than KFC, plus it doesn't have a strong presence overseas. My firend's brother owns a company that finds managers for different companies. Personally I am going to stick to ome businesses, if the trend ever ends, I will have enough cash reserves to open and brick and mortar business.
If you guys are looking for a business that I guarantee will work, check out Liberty Health Net at http://lhn.automatedincome.us
