Whether you call it being a "couch potato" or just being lazy, it all comes out the same. Most people end up this way because they are unhappy with something about themselves. Depression ties into this and there are true tell - tale signs.

I think that you have to break down what it causing the "couch potato" effect to find the effects. Whether it is true depression or just laziness, it has to be determined prior to figuring out the effects, so lets take a look about both of them.

A "couch potato" that is suffering from depression actually effects everything around them. Whether it is loved ones, roommates, friends, or pets, it effects the entire household. The "couch potato" never wants to do anything and views everything as half empty if not completely. This type of attitude and "couch potato" needs to seek immediate professional help before it gets worse.

The next type is just the plain everyday lazy bum. This too has an adverse affect on people around them as typically this person lays out of work excessively and decides not to shower for days. The funk that surrounds this person is just gross in itself. Once again, you need to find some help for this person as they are too lazy to get the butts off the couch to find help themselves.
