Does President Obama Have the Skills to be President?

President Barack Obama has the knowledge and expertise to take on one of the biggest challenges of the land and that is being the 44th President of the United States of America. When a President has worked that hard to become the Commander In Chief, you do not question his abilities to lead. You simply join in with the new spirit of change for America and do the service you can in your community to make it a better place in which to live. But to answer the question, Does President Obama have the skills to be President of the United Staes; the answer is an absolutely,  yes.

A look at the inners workings of President Obama's campaign moves should be examined and also a look should be given on how the campaign was run to get a jest of the abilities of Barack Obama as President of the United States. How many times did he make almost a personal appeal for you not to vote for more of the same but to vote for a change in America? You must read his history to get a jest of the abilities of Barack Obama to become President of the United States. President Obama does have quite a history to be only 47 years old and has risen to the highest office because of merits, dedication and love for his country as well as for the American People. He was a leader of the Harvard Law Review which accepted only the best when it came to input for the reknown publication. With that same zeal for producing only the best, President Obama has chosen the top qualified appointees for his staff and his "team of rivals." President Obama rose from the Senate seat in Ilinois to United States Senator in 2004.  The recent $787 Economic Stimulus Bill that President Barack Obama promoted in the hardest hit areas of unemployment, Indiana and Florida indicates that he is a President of action and results.  The bill is expected to become law on February 17, 2009.  President Barack Obama has been in office for less than 100 days and have earned a round for the American People.

Like the head of the Harvard Law Review, President Barack Obama found himself the only African American on the Senate floor. Upon reading his book, The Audacity of Hope, President Obama did not view himself none other than an American who wanted to serve his country the best way he could and that was with the utmost in intelligence and a dedication to his country to "remake America."

Does Barack Obama have the skills to be the President of the United States. Did you view the three televised debates where he almost floored Senator John McCain not only with his gift for oratorical speech but his indept knowledge of foreign policy. The news commentor thought surely that Senator McCain would win the first debate which was about foreign policy but he did not win. Senator McCain came up just a bit in the debates even thought foreign policy was supposedly his field of expertise. Senator John McCain scored a few points when he said something to the effect that if President Obama wanted to debate with George Bush, he should have ran against Geore Bush. But even that statement sounded just a bit like the victim and that personality type is not needed in the nation's highest office.

President Obama came across as cool, confident and not a bit surprised during the campaign when adverse information was presented to him in which to debate. The President of America is not to be a reactionary person as the American People has seen in some of the past American leaders. The American people wants someone in the highest public office to know what he is doing and President Barack Obama is well qualified to be the 44th President of the United States of America. So far, before the historic 100 days evaluation, he is showing that he has the skills to hold the world's highest office, the President of the United States of America.

What person goes to "President's School" to learn the tricks of the trade? You elect the best person from among a very small field of survivors.

In Spain we have a parliamentary system in which a party, not a person, wins the elections. This also allows for smaller parties, such as the Greens, who hold a few seats in almost every congress.

So you could have your Republicans splitting into the Libertarians, the Social Conservatives, your Democrats into the Liberals and the Moderates, etc. without internally beating each other over the head during those fractious campaigns.

Ivan the Terrible, thank you for your comment. Spain's governing system sounds a bit confusing with the myriad of political parties. I am now geared to reading more about Spain's system of government.

Yes, lindagoffigan, it can be, especially if there are dozens pf parties on the ballot! But some parties are strictly regional, such as the Basque Nationalists, (Partido Nacionalista Vasco) who only run in far northern Spain. There are others as well, but the main parties are PSOE (Partido Socialista Obrero Español), which I support. It is a socialist party with democratic roots and goals. Under Felipe Gonzales this party moved away from a Marxist background, prefering instead to follow the paths of other European Democratic Socialist parties such as those in Germany. There were troubles since some of the splinter Marxist-leaning groups broke away from PSOE, and in 1996 PSOE lost power to the PP party. PSOE has made same sex marriages legal, allowed people to use marijuana without criminal threat, allowed private enterprize to flourish, and under José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero the current leader of the party, ruled Spain in a very open and democratic manner. Spain is nothing like the evil image spouted by many right-leaning Americans, it is not a bleak, Eastern-european style socialist nation such as was East Germany in the 1950's. Spain is alive and glowing with newness mingled with traditions.

Other parties to the right are Partido Popular, (PP) which ruled from 1996 to 2004, when it was ousted after the March 11th, 2004 Madrid train bombings. It is still the major right leaning party, but there are others still around, including variatons of the Falange, which was the party that Francisco Franco used during his years a Caudillo or leader of Spain. Modern Falangists are ultra-nationalists but are very small parties that have had very little representation since the early 1970's when Franco died. Their original symbol was the same as Fascists Musollini's fascist party, but later was given its own symvol or a red and black flag with arrows and a yoke that looks like an oxen yoke.

Anyway, yes we have many parties here, but only the most popular get represenation in our congress de diputados most of the time. But we do not elect a president as you do. We elect a ruling party and they are given the right to form and lead the government. We can also change governments without following a strict cycle of years, as with the U.S. having elections every four years for president, six for senate, 2 for representatives. Unpopular governments can be set aside as needed.

Ivan the Terrible, thank you for your wealth of information about the different political parties in Spain.  As the Spanish government do not have the tenure of years in government power as American Presidents, it would be interesting to explore how many rulers were ousted by the people after a short bout in office.

You are very informed about your government and the text you sent is appreciated.

After the March 11th attacks on our trains, the then governing right-center party was ousted from office. These things swing from one side to another but generally the center-left rules more often than not.
