The term pubic hair is generally restricted to the heavier, longer and coarser hair that develops with puberty as an effect of rising levels of androgens. On most women, the pubic patch is triangular and lies over the mons veneris, or mound of Venus.

Whether for fashion, appearance, hygiene or just personal taste, most women now get rid of pubic hair. Some only have a little “tidy up” while others have no second thoughts about going completely bald down there. But whatever a woman’s decision and the reason behind it most women have wondered at least once what men think about pubic hair.
The “hair” issue can be daunting during the first stages of a relationship as some men can take a very strong stand with their likes and dislikes. Others I know would be just thankful that you said yes, regardless of your hair or lack of it. But here we are going to talk about those men who have a strong opinion on the subject.

Thanks Mezo. For most women -the ones I talked to- it is not very attractive a man with shaven pubic hair. A little bit goes a long way ;-)
I don't know, shaved makes you look like a young girl, it's a little paedophilic, maybe just a trim. Men, I can't stand shaved as it just doesn't look right.
cindyvine: I think there is a lot of talk about the shaved look and paedophilia but the guys who preferred that look liked it for many other reasons, the main one being not liking a mouth full of tiny curly hairs.
I'm against pubic hair...or maybe I just wish I was against pubic hair.....anyway I like it freshly shaven...actually I like to wield the razor. Naked labia are just easier to look at and carress with ones ....um...ok I 'll say it ....tongue.

I like it dressed in full attire. A little hair in the mouth is better than stubble burns on the face or worse the other. Worse is bits of toilet paper in the mouth.

It is nice to see different views on this interesting subject. It is natural that different people like different ways. My view is that if one is not lazy enough it is better to keep clean. You know it is time consuming to shave beard. Most men do not like to do it but need to do it. Down below, on one sees it expect the two who work on the place. It is the choice of the two partners involved. If there is conflict between the partners, the partner who works on it should be given a choice. That is the only part (place) of the body which belongs to a person (partner) who works on it, although both enjoy the action!

I don't get it. If nature made you a particular way, how could you say bald is beautiful if you weren't born bald? Cover up a masterpiece? Ugh! It's only beatiful that way if that's the way it is naturally. Besides which, little girls are bald. If any guy wanted ALL the hair gone down there, I'd have serious issues as to his stability and capabilities, either that or they're just not the right guy and anything would bother them. Now! As to men's shaving (and why not discuss them??) I feel pretty much the same way. Trim yes, but men who shave chest hair, ie, look more than dumb--it isn't attractive, and again! Razor burn..

mayhmong: It seems to be a late trend to leave pubic hair "au naturel" and sometimes the trend extends to all body hair. Someone said that a woman can be sexy wearing a pair of Loboutin shoes and sporting unshaved legs. Frankly, I doubt it!

C.Ferreira : that is what the great classical artists thought. Most Classical Paints depicting naked woman or men do so omitting all pubic hair. Michelangelo’s nudes on the Sistine chapel display no pubic hair.
Taram: It seems to be a big association between hair=dirty and bald=clean. That was the second reason why the men I interviewed preferred the baldish look.

Frieda Babbley : The bald look has more to do with practicalities for sexual practices than anything else. No one likes a mouth full of hair, they get everywhere and it takes ages to fish them out of your mouth. I hope I am not wrong, but I think that probably only a small percentage of men might associate that look to a little girl.

Princessa, lol no man is going to admit to that association! If they're so concerned the woman is dirty, then they can have a shower together as part of the foreplay. Dirty is not a reason for a woman to shave and have stubble. Because if she doesn't wash regularly, the pubic hair has nothing to do with it. The bad unhygienic smell will still be there!

Cindyvine: You are scaring me now 0_0 I honestly believe that they have many other reasons I would hate to think that you are right, it would be so horrible. I like to think that it is mainly for the practicalities of oral sex and nothing more obscure than that.
When it comes to oral sex, the pubic hair does not grow on the clitoris or where they are putting their tongue. Most men open up that area, so that the pubic hair would not be a factor, unless the woman has found some way to grow it so that they have dreadlocks, which I seriously doubt. And honestly, if you are afraid of choking to death on one little pubic hair, then you shouldn't be going down there with your tongue out. You can get hair in your mouth from nuzzling a neck. So, must women shave their heads now as well? I suppose 4 years in Asia, I have seen too many Western men drawn to child-like Asian women and young girls.

Maybe it's a generational thing, Princessa, which the younger generation do. I guess I'm now starting to slip into the oldies lol. Also, people can say they do if they think it makes them cool, but unless you check out their puff or non-puff, how do you know if they do? I reckon, most women trim in summer anyway, especially if they plan on doing a lot of swimming, but I don't know of any woman who does it completely clean cut. Mind you, I've never asked, and it's not something that really comes up in conversation. "Would you pass the cucumber sandwich, and by the way, do you shave your gwat?"

I guess everyone has an opinion on this one. Personally, some of us single ladies like to remove it all just for ourselves and because it looks nice and clean, and it has nothing to do with impressing a guy, especially since I am not dating any for a very long time. The majority of men who like a women bare down there are not sexual deviants, and it is just a matter of fashion preference. For example, back in the 70's most people did not really do much about that region, but as the Brazilian and other waxing methods become more widely accepted, so did being bared down there. To me it is just a way of experimenting with your hair, just like people do on their heads, but this is more intimate. There is no right or wrong way to style it, and it is purely personal preference. This was a very interesting hub Princessa.

This is an original topic and it obviously attracted a lot of attention. The bald look looks good in photographs. I have never been with a woman with a baldie, though. There wasn't much of that around back in the day. I think a woman should be free to express herself in that area as another part of the mystery of woman. Most guys will take it regardless I am sure.
I love the shaved look....and personally I like to be involved in the shaving.....makes for a fun foreplay.....maybe use real cream instead of shaving cream.

In my opinion, and in my relationship, no hair is best for girls and guys. Guys feel more confident because they think their thing looks bigger. Girls feel clean and sexy. Sex feels sooo much better when both partners are hairless :) Oral sex is better, intercourse is better. If you do it right there isn't razor burn, and the stubble gets less coarse the more you do it. My friend died hers hot pink, it looked kinda cool. But I wouldn't grow mine out just to dye it.

Mezo: Personally I don't feel any sexual attraction to men with moustaches/beard they remind me to much of my father, so It is a big NO NO for me. They can be thick or pencil thin. The hair can either be wispy or thick as well. One thing's for sure, God's little hairy directional tool can be a godsend.

According to sexual biologists, the cleavage of your breasts emulates the buttocks (the part of your anatomy we were most accustomed to seeing during sex before our evolved anatomy afforded the luxury of the missionary position). They also say your full lips emulate a woman's..er.. happy place. Everything about you appeals to us on multiple levels but, consciously, it's almost all visual. So is it any surprise so many of us prefer to see what we're getting (or hoping to get)?
Of course, we're so bad with directions that if you don't have at least a little strip pointing the way, we'd likely get entirely lost.
My preference? Whatever makes my wife comfortable enough to let me play.

No hair is best. A little hair is okay as long as it is well maintained. A bush is a definite no-no.
God I don't know where I saw it maybe in my email, it was a set of women, who were so hairy down there, some had pubic hair up to their navels,about 4-5 inches long, like a huge train track going up the crack and up the back LMAO, one woman even had hers in a beard. After I saw that it turned me right off hair LMAO

I've had my pubic hair shaved only once, when I had to undergo surgery, and I found it a nightmare afterwards, when it started to grow: the itch was disastruous, it was almost impossible to avoid scratching myself in public. As my mom taught me that's not OK to do that, I resisted for a while... Then I suddenly forgot about my mom...

I have found some women attractive with full hair, some with trimmed hair and some with no hair. It is not as much the hair that counts, but how confident and comfortable the women fells with or without it. It is a sense of confidence that is the ultimate sexy factor and not the look.

one thing that puzzles me about he female form and i wonder if the princess or any of her colleagues can shed any light on whether the theory about redheads having red pubic hairs is this old fable actually true because i need to know!!!!!
Dave: LOL never seen it but a redhead friend of mine swears that her pubic hair is even redder and brighter than the hair on her head (that she dyes on a dark shade of red to avoid shocking people with her orangy-bright hair) a male friend who was there listening to our conversation corroborated her story. I grew up in a time where pubic hair was never an issue...it was there, or not. If I wanted to wear a bikini, for sure a stray hair or two was not a concern. But then, we didn't have the bikinis then that we have today.
About a guy's preference as to his woman's shaving or not, that was never a question, either. He just got what he got...unless he had a strong preference that he voiced. In which case, well, that was a private thing between the two.

I agree with SavingsLady. I was shaved for an operation and when the hair started growing back it was a nightmare! The itching was absolutely unbearable, not to mention embarrassing! Riding down the road trying to scratch, squirming in the seat, I can only imagine what other drivers thought.
I'm with Sally--We are about both 'of a certain age' I think, and this has definitely changed with the generations. I think the bald look is a youngster's thing. Guys my age (unless they are lying which is totally possible) are not that big on shaving for men or for women--we just got used to it the other way. Natural is fine for most of the geezers I know.In fact, when I found out everyone shaved I was shocked. I mean, how would I know? Same guy for years, no issues, so I just never thought about it.

With no hair at all, they look like a sheep after the entire removal of whool. But rear side can be shaved well because of the following reasons given this hub.

Hi Sally : thanks for following and sharing this hub, it has been a lot of fun reading all the comments. Fashions have changed a lot and with it our perceptions of beauty. Perhaps what it was not fashionable or even ugly some years ago is now acceptable and even wanted. Interesting to hear your opinion.

What a super hub on such an interesting subject! And the comments and repartees are even better. I have cast my vote on the polls and it appears that the no hair, nada, is winning hands down and pubes shorn!
But that is not necessarily my choice - I believe the total bald waxing is too painful. No real man wants to put his lady through pain. As someone pointed out, the best is probably what she can carry off with confidence and aplomb. So what is best would vary with the individual.
However, given a choice, one would like a neat trimmed look, nicely shaved all around the trimmed part. The shape could be any, a landing strip, an oval, a triangle, a heart or even a diamond. I am reminded of a friend, many years ago, with whom it used to be fun bringing up the subject earlier in the evening over drinks and taking a bet on what the shape for the day might be. Later, at action stations, when the truth was revealed, the loser had to be the slave and follow all directions of the winner.
There was a comment about trying cream. Surely we can be more adventurous than that. How about some wine? Or even better, a splash of single malt? Much as one loves to nose and sip the Islay variety, down under I think I'd prefer Glenfiddich with its soft aroma of fresh pear and sherry to the strong peaty flavour of a Laphroaig.
About men: There is that old one about how kissing a man without a moustache and beard is like having fried eggs and bacon without salt and pepper. Surely that applies equally to the curtains and the carpets (loved this phrase I read somewhere above!) But it should be salt and pepper sprinkled in measured quantity, the way a lady would have it .... not a whole damn jungle of unruly red hot chillies! Keep it neat and trimmed guys, and so will she!

I do not enjoy fully shaven I encounterd the itching problem too but nicely trimmed is Ok.Why was it placed there in the first place. Two fully shaven mounds on a long haul can be rather uncomfortable especially if both participants are skinny. I prefer a bush to shaved, though I had one girl friend with it shaved and it was very exciting the first couple of times. There is one rule I believe all men agree with; the curtains should always match the drapes. There is no bigger turn off than to find the hot redhead you're getting it on with, is really mousy brown (unless it's gray!). If you are going to spend $150 bucks to dye your hair, get a store kit and do down below to match.

I think you can look at the pubic hair situation in a few ways, it has it's goods and bads, goods or as follow: you can suck on the hair juice like a mango or fruit of ur choice, now in reverse there are benifits to no hair at all, some like it shaved and bald, you can get right to the fruit with out no gagging or choking on hairs in ur throat, and it is also clean,

I prefer the entirely natural look - a real woman. Shaved just looks like a little girl. A minor trim before a beach holiday is fine, though.
captain, I think most women would like that style too (after all shaving is not a pleasant job) but they feel they need to go "bold" to be fashionable.
I prefer a woman to be natural. To me, the more hair she has the sexier she is. This shaved look fad is just that ... a fad. It make a WOMAN look like a LITTLE GIRL yeech. Real men want a Real woman. The hair is sosexually attractive. It's ok if she trims up slightly, neatly but still have hair. I realize lot of women shave arounf the "lips" for oraling purposes which is fine. As a man it feels so good to have those hairs "brush on your BOYS" during intercourse.

Pubic hair signifies that transition to adulthood and maturity. As a society we are hyper-focused on staying young forever. It's not a healthy obsession. Grow up and grow it out.

As for me it's better to SHAVE it all....but if it's just some little hair, or a cute shape as a heart, it's ok (I remember your hub about men's chest hair, a little hair is sexy..too much hair is a turn off ;) )
