What does it mean to believe in Jesus?
67It's not the image you have to believe.
It's the words, and it's not so much about just saying I believe, it's the root of what He taught us. It's simple. We all make mistakes, everyone. This world isn't so nice either and sometimes even the most thoughtful words get taken for granted or turned into something that it is not.
For instance, you could read some of my hubs and think, wow this girl is rude and she doesn't know anything about Jesus. But I have to say, your wrong. It's like reading the Bible, When Jesus teaches us the fundamentals of life, He uses stories. Like, when someone says, "how do we get into Heaven, and Jesus tells this story,
He says: there was a man walking down a road and he was malled by lions and left for dead (somthing like that) and a priest walks by and sees the man left for dead, but he walks right by because he believed that touching a dead body was a sin and would defile himself before the God and so he just kept on walking. Then another man walks by and sees him, (I forget what his thoughts were) but he just kept walking. Then a third man, a sumaryians walks by and sees him. While Jesus is telling the story to his followers, they say, "A sumaryian, but they hate us", then Jesus continues, He says: so this man walks by and sees the man left for dead but picks the man up and brings him to a doctor and says "help this man, I will pay whatever it cost to heal him".
So Jesus says, " Love your Creator, God, have no other, and love your neigbor as you love yourself." So what was Jesus saying? He was passing down the Golden Rule, do onto others as you would have done unto youself.
So, I live by that, and as you can see, sometimes people say things even Jesus, that sound awful, but it's not the words that mean so much, it's the understanding you take of it. Like reading the Bible, the Priest, and the Pastors and Rabbi's and stuff, they teach word for word and sometimes they forget what Jesus was saying. Maybe because they really believe that if you live by the code of conduct passed down by Moses from God that that is the only surefire way to get into Heaven, and Jesus said: Be asured, that you will become like a child again before you can get into Heaven.
To me that says, yes, we make mistakes, and no one in the world is able to live by the 10 commandments, think about it, I don't even see how it is possible to not want what you neighbor has, but aren't you like a child when you do? I do the best I can to live by the Commandments, but the truth is that I can't, no matter how hard I try but when I mess up I feel really bad and try not to do it again, thus "repentance".
Repentance isn't so much just saying sorry and feeling guilty for ever and ever and begging and begging, it's trying your very best to not do it again. So to believe in Jesus isn't just to recognize the body that died, frankly I think it's discusting for the Pope or any church to put an image of His dead body up as a shrine, but that is me, and to me it seems like they are saying, Look we killed Jesus, haha, and that aint cool by me, anyways, it's remembering that we are people, we are all His children.
Being like a child is admitting that we really don't know how, or that the "sins" that we make aren't really because we sinned, it's because we are forced to live in a way that causes us to sin. Should we be sorry for this? In a sense, no, not really, but in a sense, yes, because there are so many good people in the world that deserve a better life, and the only way we can do this is when you act like Jesus, go help people, that is what Jesus' people do, that is what it means, and for sure those people who don't recognize Jesus or who put up a wall againts Him because of what has become of His very name, well, there is no reason that Jesus would hold you accountable or deny you a place in Heaven or a perfect world, because it's unfair judgment seeing what has become of His name Jesus.
In short, believing in Jesus, is believing in what is right, it's doing good, it's the good way of life. I can't say I understand all the controvercy over the name, because it's stupid, why not follow Jesus, all He ever said was Love, and Peace, and God. Sometimes I do get mad at Christians because not only have a lot of them faught with me and the way I understand Jesus, but have been down right mean to me.
I went to a church and the Pastor was saying stuff about how it's not right to be gay. And all I could think of was, isn't it better to accept a person the way that they came then try and change them. Wouldn't God and Jesus be more pleased if you showed them love instead of making them feel bad. But this sparked an arguement. The pastor said, yeah, they can come, but we have to get them help because it's bad before God's eyes. I said, gay people don't wake up and decide that they want to be hated because they happen to LOVE someone who is of the same sex. It's love, don'tcha get it.
So, really I don't like religion, though I sound religious because I talk about God and Jesus, but I am not a christian, I am not a muslim, I am not agnostic I am not any label associated with any one religion or doctorine. I am pro doing the right thing, I am pro love, I am pro forgiveness, and because evidentally those are the things that Jesus thought, I am pro Jesus.
So sometimes I wish that there was no such thing as religion, so that way I could just talk all day long about Jesus, just like some people talk all day about things that they love. Like parents and kids, but see because of all this "evil doing", it's hard to talk about the things I love because I don't want people to say that I don't know what I am talking about, or that is not the way, or you are almost there, or God is a lie, because it's not true FOR ME. God and Jesus are more real than anything else I have ever incountered in life. Plus, I hate to use the name Jesus anywhere were it would be disrespected, just as christians think that I disrespect His name, and through the christian eyes, I am not christain. So be it. I AM NOT A CHRISTIAN! I am a follower of Jesus, just like some are followers of John Smith, the father of economics, or Martin Luthar King, or Albert Einstien, or Kepler, or Newton, or Britney Spears, haha, or Nastradomus, or Sadartha, or Sheba.
As my dad always said: Sandy, just do what you know or believe to be right, what God wouldn't accept you for that?

You are right. Jesus is love, is about love, is the embodiment of love in action. He showed us the Way to live, the Way to serve, and the Way to love. Thanks for your opinions and thoughts. Keep posting.
Its not about titles, its about Jesus. Great hub

I think JESUS could not forget to tell about a person who was going to be prophet(MUHAMMAD; P.B.U.H)
after 500 years of his prophethood.I wonder if you could forget him like many others as you seem to have love for nature and divine.See the both aspects, please.
Topstuff: Names come and go, but what remains will remain forever. I see more than one aspect of life for sure. I just do these hubs because someone really ticked me off about the things they were saying in church about how other religions were wrong and how only Baptist have it right etc. I disagreed to the point of retaliation, so I read it for myself. When I read it for myself, I could understand how and why they say the things that they do, but also that they havent the slightest idea about what they are preaching.
You might say that I am ignorant or that I am confussed, but really, I am not confussed. Nore do I think you are confussed.
Shakspere said it best: "A rose by any other name would smell just as sweet."
Hi Sandy, interesting hub. Thanks for visiting my hub. Blessings.
Jesus is love and the man beside the road was robbed
Sandy - this was a great read and I agree with many things, however, don't forget that Jesus died for us, to save us so it's not about works - we accept Him in our hearts and the works follow....nothing we do, no matter what, can get us to heaven. Jesus did not die in vain, he gave us a free gift :) and that is love.
thanks cooliedoos, I don't forget that. I can't remember if I addressed, that it's the intentions of our hearts that count, our works comes second. :) So I remember that he does love us if anything else.

I think you righteous! If not religious! I also believe you know what you are talking about. There is misconception amongst many so call "religious" people, whether they are Muslims, Christians, Jews etc.,who believe they are the Judges for their religions....Only god is the Supreme Judge. Man only knows whats wrong and right, and can chose between the two........Great Hub keep Em' coming!
