What happens (exactly) when you put sugar in a gas tank?

sugar in the gas tank

Putting sugar in a gas tank will actually hurt the car.  Sugar does not dissolve in gasoline and will clog the fuel filter.  The sugar that makes it through the fuel filter, and trust me it will, will then clog the fuel pump, but it doesn't stop there; the whole fuel delivery system will be ruined.  The fuel filter and gas line will most likely need to be replaced, not repaired, and the fuel tank will at least have to be emptied and cleaned if not also replaced.

Needless to say, sugar in a gas tank is a very expensive thing to fix.

Sugar in the gas tank works well. Some of my students sugared my Camaro one Halloween years ago. She ran for about 2 minutes until the fuel system gummed up. It was like sticky glue in the lines. Deb

Now that the deed is done, is he actually going to know what has happened. I mean specifically know that sugar was the cause? I hope its more of a pain in the butt than sounds like!
