Acne is a skin condition due to abnormal excessive noise production of oil glands (sebaceous gland) which causes blockage of hair follicles channels and pores of the skin. Areas prone to acne is on the face, chest, back and upper arms.

Inflammation of the skin occurs when the oil glands produce skin oil (sebum), causing excessive blockage of oil glands in the channel and formation of whiteheads and seborhoea. If the obstruction dilate, blackheads appears later interact with acne bacteria.

Acne is classified mild if the form is still blackheads with the number of lesions less than 30. If the number of lesions ranged from 30-125 it is called papule. Big pimple called nodules or cysts occur when lesions is above 125.

Acne misconceptions

Due to lack of medical knowledge about acne, a lot of false rumors circulating about the causes of acne:

- Food. Chocolate, snack, sugar, milk and seafood do not cause acne. Medical research until now found no significant difference between the incidence of acne in two groups of people, one group consume the foods above and others not. However, in the book The Acne Prescription, dermatologist Nicholas Perricone radical tells us that this is a myth, and suggested a special diet with a lot of fish menu and a little sugar.

- Sex. Common myth states masturbation and not married can cause acne. But there is no medical evidence to confirm this opinion.
