Child Care: What is Best for Your Infant and Toddler Children

Child Care: What is Best for Your Infant and Toddler Children

Trying to find the appropriate child care for our kids is probably one of the most nerve-wrecking experiences one can endure. You never want to place your flesh and blood in the hands of someone who could place them in harm’s way. But with the need often times for all adults in the home to work, finding someone to watch your children is often necessary. Unless you know the individual personally that you’re leaving your children with, you may be biting your nails all day. And even then, you can feel unsure because you don’t know if that friend or relative might have a bad day and take it out on your offspring.

If tossing around the idea of placing your children in some type of child care facility, you may want to consider some important ideas on what to look for before doing so. This way, you’ll be able to feel as secure as possible with the idea that your babies are out of your sight for the 8-10 hours you’ll be away at work.

Consider What Your Children Need Most

When your babies (I know, they may not be babies anymore, but they’re YOUR babies) are being sent into daycare at young and impressionable ages (3 months – 4 years) it is very important that when they’re not in your nurturing presence they will be with individuals who can provide the same love, attention and affection that you would offer.

So what is considered to be a good caregiver for a young child?

Here are a few key characteristics you can look for in your child care giver.

A person who is loving and responsive. One who gives lots of love, hugs, cuddles, and truly takes an interest in your baby. They should be playful but also take an interest in your child’s emotional and educational development. There are social and academic games that they would know to participate in with your baby to help him or her develop outside of your presence.

A person who understands your baby is an individual. Some daycares are so overwhelmed with children that they tend to treat them all the same way and hold them all to the same standards, when in actuality, each child is an individual. Your ideal provider would be one who can look at your little one, tune into who he or she is, and treat him or her as a unique individual.

One who understands how to stimulate a child’s environment. There are certain things that belong in a child’s environment, such as a place to play, the proper eating and diapering areas, and more. Your child care provider will need to understand the importance of a good balance in time and physical surroundings to give your children the best overall daycare experience possible everyday.

It can definitely be a trying process to find a child care facility that you trust enough to leave your children in. But there are places that will give your babies the love and nurturing attitudes you would provide. With a little research and patience, you can find a child care setting that is both affordable and loving for your babies.

The best child care is a mother's care in my opinion but I understand that not everyone can be home with their kids. My oldest was in daycare centers until she was 5 by the time I had the second one ... "I was like No way!" I actually started my own daycare just so I could be home with my kids and supplement the income I used to earn. It works for me. I have a lot of great information regarding daycare centers on my Squidoo lenses but I only have the one here on hubpages http://hubpages.com/hub/Daycareschoolonline Come and check it out. Let me know what you think. Thumbs up content!! Thanks for sharing.
