Carbon Folly is a book worth reading whether or not you are for or against Cap and Trade!

I am going to come out of the "I don't believe in Global Warming Closet" and let the world know that I don’t buy into Gore’s explanation for supposed global warming.

I came out of the I don't believe in Global Warming closet because of a book written by Donn Dears. Donn is a man I deeply respect and has written a book titled Carbon Folly. Carbon Folly is in print and can be ordered at http://www.amazon.com/Carbon-Folly-Donn-Dears/dp/0981511902 . Whether you believe In global warming or not it’s a good read because it dwells on the reality of cutting carbon emissions.

I know a lot of people believe in global warming. They believe they need to save the planet. Save it from what? How arrogant. Even if global warming existed it isn't going to destroy the planet. In addition to wanting to save the planet the god-like saviors will likely want to tar and feather me, call me explicative adjectives, and run me out of the blogosphere just becauseI don’t agree with them. Not only are they arrogant, they are down right intolerant.

If that is how they wish to respond to someone who has a different point of view than they have, then so be it. They have shown their brown shirt philosophy. They have shown they are right in lockstep with their sweaty Global Warming Leader, Al Gore. Or as he is know in democracy circles as "Al Gore the guy who said the debate is ended in reference to global warming." My, how Stalinisk of him.

Donn knows his subject. He is a retired GE Company senior executive having extensive experience with power generation, transmission, transportation and related equipment. He worked closely with the electric utility, oil, mining and transportation industries.

He currently is president of TS August, a 501 (C) 3 nonprofit company. Donn graduated with an engineering degree, with honors, from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. Unlike many arguments about global warming Dears provides an intelligent and objective analysis of the global warming claims, with facts to support his summary and final Conclusions.

In addition, despite the complex subject the book is easy to read and full of detail consisting of easy to read charts and graphs.

Dears presents data on each category that contributes to carbon emissions. The data is obtained from the Department of Energy. Next he provides an overview on alternative energy sources that are said to reduce carbon emissions in the United States.

The book builds a strong case that makes it difficult for any objective person to believe that a reduction of Carbon Dioxide is possible of up to 80% by 2050. The book should make any serious person question those who push the politics of global warming/carbon emissions. It may even make some people want to begin becoming active in changing course immediately. Hopefully it will because otherwise the standard of living, the economic system and the nation’s security will be in jeopardy

Whether or not the reader believes that green house gasses are causing global warming or whether he/she believes global warming is the result of natural causes, Carbon Folly provides the facts people need to evaluate whether the United States should take action to dramatically cut CO2 emissions.

Carbon Folly describes the sources of CO2 emissions in the United States. It also examines the options available for controlling them. Europe s Cap & Trade system is reviewed as well as the differences between European and American societies. Why, for example, does Europe have fewer per capita CO2 emissions than the United States? Should America restructure its society to conform to Europe s? Carbon Folly delves into whether people should be concerned about the move in Congress to establish Cap & Trade regulations for reducing CO2 emissions.

The UN demands that the US cut its CO2 emissions by 80%. Few are asking, is it possible to cut CO2 emissions by 80%? Or by any meaningful amount? According to the U.S. census the population of the United States will grow by 139 million people by 2050.

There is a question that needs to answered in face of population growth. That question is what are the consequences for American society if carbon regulations are established but CO2 emissions cannot be cut by any significant amount? Cap & Trade could be the largest hidden tax increase in history. Will ENRON have merely been the tip of the iceberg? With CO2 emissions directly linked to economic growth, cutting CO2 emissions will result in economic decline.

If you like Donn’s point of view, a visit to the TS August website is also worthwhile. There you can gain additional information on Carbon Emissions , Oil Independence, Nuclear, Wind and other energy alternatives vist the ts august web site.

Donn is not a capitalist tool. He is retired, a grandfather and is worried about the future that his grand children will face if this country does not stand up to the intimidation politics of global warming. He represents the classic difference between a politician and engineer which is, “A politician will change his mind at the drop of a poll, an engineer will change his mind on the basis of hard data.

It’s time we stop believing politicians about global warming. It is time we began to not feel intimated by speaking out against the folly of current global warming politics and the constant barrage of half truths and myths that proponents of global warming provide us.

I read Dears book and came out of the I am against Global Warming Closet, perhaps you will also. Go to your library or book store and read it this summer.

Well written hub although I don't agree with the premise. I may see if my library has Dears's book.

Amen! I genuinely believe we need to make things as efficient as possible, however the carbon that is in oil needs to be put BACK into the biosphere where it used to be. Not man people realize that water is significantly more of a greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide, whereas CO2 ends up being used up to feed up. Stopping CO2 emmisions is death to this planet. And a warmer planet is important if we need to continue growing. Now if CO2 starts getting high enough to start burnig out flesh with carbonic acid or making us sick, then there's a problem. But that is simply dang neat impossible as plantlife will start growing too fast to allow it to get that high.

Robubba, Keep the debate going. Global warming is a scientific theory. Science is not politics. A supposed consensus on a theory does not mean the theory is true. If that were the case Darwin never would have stood a chance. Challenge the political hacks and the zealots to stop being political and dismissive and debate the global warming theory in the same way science debates other theories.
