What is Happening to My Country?

What is happening to my country? This question plagues me constantly. I watch the news and look around me and there is very little to be happy about. The economy is bad its probably going to get worse, and there is very little to nothing anyone that is in power can or will do about it. To get it out in the open and let everyone know I'm a republican. I know that the previous statement will probably make half of all reading exit this screen and sign a Peta petition. Joking and simile's aside I'm serious it seems that republican is a dirty word now days and anyone who claims to be one is looked at like an ignorant hick that hates the poor and has racist tendencies. This infuriates me. I think i hold basically the same desires for this country as most fair minded democrats, that is to see us survive, to see everyone treated equal, to see everyone fed and a host of other desires that make America the best country on the planet. We just disagree on the methods and definitions. Where as i believe that it is the child's right to be born democrats believe it to be the right of the mother to kill that child before it is actually expelled from the body, i guess the see no evil concept comes into play here. As to where i believe the highest form of freedom is freedom to own property and spend your money the way you see fit as well as to give to the charity of your choice the democrats believe in the socialist/communist concept of redistribution of wealth. I can go on and on about the problems with the democrats i wont, it is tedious and mind numbingly repetitive because it has been hashed time and time again. My party is not perfect by any means that's for sure. The democrats have a united front or at least a somewhat united front, i applaud the democrats that have a problem with the Obama administration and actually voice their concern, but unfortunately those voices are very few and are quick to be muffled by the press or their own party. My party though has people like Rush Limbaugh and Collin Powell, thees two could not be own farther ends of the spectrum if they tried. Rush Limbaugh gets most of what true conservatism is about but comes across as a hate mongering lunatic that would find a problem with cute kittens if Obama has anything to do with them. Collin Powell on the other hand claim to be a republican but votes for the most liberal presidential candidate ever to run and then later states that Americans don't want smaller government but rather larger government. I understand that Powell got the short end of the stick and is trying to mend his legacy but give it a break and catch a clue, the last thing we need is more wasteful big government replacing our self reliance with welfare state mentality. I guess it bothers me that more people do not see the writing on the wall. Obama came into office with the worst economy since the great depression that is true , but he ran on the platform of being able to fix it. It seems to me then that he has no grounds to complain about his "inherited" problem, inherited that is from a republican president and a democratic congress. It is unfair and dishonest for Obama to try and pass everything on his agenda under the guise of "it will help our economy" Obama's Numbers and statements are as shady as his Chicago past. My statement when Obama won was that if he lives up to his campaign promises he will go down in history as one of the greatest presidents ever , but if he does not and i don't think he can he fail miserably. Friends he broke his promise of not signing an bill with earmarks and pork barrel spending when he signed the omnibus, he broke his no tax for the poor with the tobacco tax and plans to do it again with cap and trade, he also has broke promises on Guantanamo, gay issues and staffing practices concerning lobbyists. I just hope we all wake up before our country changes and we ask not what is happening with my country but what happened to my country.
