What is Kontera?

If you're already a Hub Pages writer you probably received an email today introducing a new way to monetize your Hubs called Kontera. What the heck is a Kontera you might ask? Well I'm glad you did, because I'm gonna let you know what Kontera advertising is. Later Hubs will tell you how to make the most of it so you might want to take the time to become my fan while you're here.

Kontera is contextual in text advertising similar to Google's Adsense. That means Kontera will determine what the topic of your Hub Page is and it will serve up ads that are relevant to that topic. Got a Hub about Siamese cats? Then you're likely to see ads for pet stores and the like. Have a Hub on scuba diving? Then your ads will be based around scuba diving and probably travel.

The cool thing about Kontera ads is that they are served up right within the text. Kontera will pick keywords out of your Hub and turn them into ads so that when your reader hovers over the link they'll get a cute little pop-up box advertising something related to that word. Pretty slick, huh?

The email I received from Hub Pages said that they are seeing up to 15-20% increases in page earnings with Kontera depending on the topic you're writing about. I think you'll agree with me that's pretty substantial and definitely worth adding to your hubs.

If you haven't started using Kontera yet I suggest you go get your account and add the Kontera option to your hubs. I mean who wants to pass up an additional opportunity to make some money here? Not me for sure.
