What is Megaupload?

Megaupload was launched in 2005 as a file hosting service for uploading and downloading large files.  MegaVideo also offers those uploads to be viewed on the web site as opposed to being downloaded.  Megaupload also has a sister site, MegaPorn, which hosts porn for those of legal age to view it.  Megaupload offers three types of accounts: Free, Premium and Lifetime Platinum.  Free accounts have the most limited use of the site, while Premium and Lifetime Platinum offer full access to uploading and downloading services for a fee.

How does Megaupload work

For free users, Megaupload offers a limited use of uploading and downloading of files.  This means that without registering or registering without purchasing a Premium or Lifetime Platinum account, users have a limited use of the site.  Download, uploads and more are limited with longer wait times and a cap on how much can be downloaded per day.  For uploading, registered users only have 200 GB of storage space to work with while paid account holders have an unlimited amount of storage space.  Registered members have no wait time between downloads and can download an unlimited number of files at a given time.  However, download speeds are limited and it can take some time to download files without paying for a Premium account.

What can you do with Megaupload?

Megaupload allows users to upload large files and share them with others.  As long as these files are legally shareable, Megaupload can be a reliable place to share files.  You simply upload, then share the URL.  You can password protect files to keep them secure, and you can upload any type of file to Megaupload's servers.  Files such as music, movies, documents, RAR and Zip files are just some of the uploads you can use Megaupload for.  Megaupload also allows for you to organize files by name, folders and more.  You have complete control over how your files and folders are shared over the Internet.
