I heard on the radio (The Opie and Anthony Show) recently about a model "going septic" and resulting in her hands and feet needing to be amputated as well as part of her stomach removed. That would be a pretty interesting topic to write about and I'm sure there's more information than what I've provided available on the net somewhere. The model ended up dying eventually too so I'd say it's a pretty serious deal. It started as a urinary tract infection, here's an article I found on the story-

In a sad twist in the tale of Mariana Bridi, the 20-year-old died on Saturday, January 24. Bridi had contacted a urinary tract infection (which is typically caused by intercourse, according to information), in December. This particular UTI brought an especially virulent strain of bacteria. Brazilian doctors initially decided it was best to remove her feet and hands, after the massive infection. By January 24, Bridi died.   According to reports, Bridi was incorrectly diagnosed at first, with kidney stones. When she later came back to a hospital, this time after going septic, it was too late; the amputations only staved off the tragic end to the youth/supermodel hopeful's short life.   Mariana Bridi had built up a sizable fan base. After the news of her early demise became public, many lamented the tragic loss.

Since we are on the topic of death ( a natural part of life) I thought I would share this quote I came across recently. It stuck with me and prompted me to call my oldest son who I havent' seen in over a year now...here it goes.\

"If you were going to die soon and had only one phone call you could make, who would you call and what would you say? ...And why are you waiting?"
