What is Bullying?
All I can do is speak out of experience.
I have been bullied several times and each time has been uniquelly different.
The first ime I was bullied was in primary school. Which is what I call the blatent bullying. A very simple form of bullying which is common among children. Where girls in my class would call me a 'freak' while I was walking up the stairs
As I got older the bullying became more subtle, but considerably more severe.
Remember bullies are people who target weak people. When I reached puberty and my hormones were going mad that's when the more complex and severe bullying started. Also, when you're older you're not wrapped up in cotton wool anymore if your parent makes a complaint it can be deemed that you can't handle your own problems and that you are the dreaded word: 'immature'
When I was 15, my hormones were going mad. It caused alot of self doubt; and when faced with the question was it bullying? People still hum and haw. I did lash out quite a bit when I was 15; but it was because I was feeling left out. This in turn made my friends ditch me and didn't speak to me for 4 years. These were 4 very formative years that I spent suffering and that spelt out horrer when it came to the rest of my life.
I started college when I was 18, and there, I wasn't bullied. However, there was someone in my class who fancied me; who in turn; used to make heavy handed flirting comments and remarks. Which were rude and disgusting.
Needless to say I dropped out fairly promptly. Now again, recently I have started college and this time the bullying revolvs around something entirely different. It revolves around 'sex'. A boy in my class used me and in turn I got angry and the whole class backed him up.
As you can see, the older you get the more complex the bullying becomes as your mind grows. Therefore, as you grow older it can be more difficult to spot.
Each and every time I've been bullied it's been completely different. So what I would say what defines bullying is if you're upset by something. If something upsets you; then it's bullying.
