Microsoft Exchange Server allows you to create collaborative messaging environment and provides enhanced mail accessing speed. But in some situations, the Exchange Server Database (EDB) file gets damaged and all of the stored data becomes inaccessible. To sort out such issues, Microsoft Exchange includes a recovery tool, known as Eseutil. It lest you carry out recovery in two ways: hard recovery and soft recovery. In some cases, the Eseutil might fail to repair the damaged database in hard recovery mode. At this point, you need to go for Exchange Server Recoveryusing third party tools to sort out the issue.

When you attempt to carry out hard recovery of database in Microsoft Exchange Server, you encounter -1019 error messages. These errors show that the EDB file is damaged and it can not be restored. The recovery process gets terminated after these error messages and last transaction log file, which is replayed, is altered and damaged. When you see the Application Event Log of Exchange Server, you find the following entries:

Event ID: 0
Source: ESE97
Type: Error
Category: Performance
Description: (252) Unexpected Win32 error: 0x3E6

Event ID: 122
Source: ESE97
Type: Error
Category: Logging/Recovery
Description: (252) Unable to read the log. Error -1022.

Event Id: 0
Source: ESE97
Type: Error
Category: Logging/Recovery
Description: (252) -1019

This behavior of Microsoft Exchange Server occurs due to severe corruption to the Exchange Server database. In such cases, the Eseutil can not detect the corruption and thus can not carry out Exchange Server Repair.

In order to retrieve data in such cases, you need to repair and restore the database using third party tools, known as Exchange Server Recovery software. These applications use advanced scanning methods to systematically scan whole database and retrieve as much data as possible from it. The Exchange Server Recovery software come equipped with self-descriptive graphical user interface that let you carry out quick and easy recovery.
