What is the Oldest Known Board Game that we still Play?
62Does the Ouija board count?
I remember how my friends and I had a morbid fascination with the thing when we were younger; it wasn't until I hit twelve and saw "The Exorcist" for the first time that I started to shy away from anything that so blatantly messes with the occult.
Of course, there's always the controversy: "Is it real?" "What if someone else is moving the planchette?" There are also many, many stories of people doing strange and sometimes outright stupid things with the Board, such as getting totally wasted and playing Ouija in an abandoned (and supposedly haunted) house or building.
I'm not the superstitious type at all, but one must consider the possibility that there IS a way to open portals to whatever Hell you subscribe to, which obviously isn't a very good thing (unless you're working on your tan). Regardless, I sometimes yearn for the days of innocent intrigue and rainy afternoons spent communicating with "ghosts."

It's only 100 years old or so, though - chess is more like 1,000 years old!
LondonGirl--you're so right; I completely forgot about chess! Probably 'cos I suck at it...;p

After my friend died and the Ouija Board told it to us in 6th grade and he died on the date and year it said, I never ever messed with those boards again. I would say however that the Ouija board counts as one. :)
