What is the best home remedy for Acne?
57Acne is a general term used to describe skin conditions where the pores get blocked with the oil that our skin naturally creates, sebum, and sometimes dead skin cells. These blocked pores are prone to infection, causing a variety of spots. The severity of acne varies from person to person, however it is a condition that can cause great self-consciousness and unhappiness in it's sufferers. Finding the best home remedy for acne may involve some trial and error, but it is worth persevering as there will be a remedy to help you.
No picking!
The worst thing you can do to any spots is pick them. While it may be very tempting, and you find yourself thinking "it's only one, and it's tiny" remember you are spreading bacteria onto skin that is already fighting a losing battle against it. It doesn't need you to help the bacteria on it's way. The same applies to touching your face, try not to touch your face all the time, and when you do have to touch it, wash your hands first. Dirt only helps bacteria breed which is the last thing you want.
Vitamins
It is believed that fairly high doses of vitamins A and niacin can help with the treatment of acne, along with a small dose of vitamin E. You must always be careful when taking high amounts of vitamins, be sure to drink plenty of water and stop if you begin to feel any adverse side effects.
Exercise & diet
Make sure you take daily exercise, working up a good sweat is a great way to cleanse your body from the inside out and gets your metabolism going. Even if you can only manage 20 minutes a day, it will still be greatly beneficial.
Look at your diet. The old saying "you are what you eat" wasn't just made up on the spot out of thin air. Foods that are high in fats and high in sugars are toxic to your system and should ideally be cut out, but if this isn't possible then cut them right down. However, try not to turn to diet drinks in an attempt to cut down your sugar intake as these are also toxic to your system. Make sure you are getting plenty of fruit and vegetables, along with a good daily intake of water to help your body flush out your system.
Lemon juice
When applied topically, lemon juice can help greatly in relieving acne. Either apply it neat to your skin and wash off with luke warm water after half an hour or so, or mix it with warm water and wash your face in it regularly. Both methods should result in a noticeable improvement in a couple of weeks.
Epsom salts
Epsom salts are an amazing remedy for many ailments. Bathe twice a week in an epsom salt solution, approximately 1.5 kg of salts to 55 litres of water at body temperature. Relax in this solution for around half an hour, or until you find yourself sweating. Be sure to relax after the bath and allow yourself to cool slowly.
