Some best way to relieve pain caused by nerve damage
70First, I would like to inform that I am not a physician or any medical pratitioner of any sort. However, I had a meaniningful experience as a medical representative in the pharmaceutical industry from 1979 to 1982. The conversations and some consultations with well-meaning doctors taught me some facts about vitamins and what we normally do in general in life. As I have learned from them, nerve defects or damage could be lack of sufficient vitamins, especially the Vitamin B complex. For people who can afford regular diet, they should have enough of these vitamins, except probably those who are "choosey" with their food. It would be only those who lack these vitamins who should take supplemental Vitamin B complex like Neurobion.
Nerve damages resulting to physical injuries are best relieved with massage done by those knowledgeable on the practice. I am also a victim of several nerve problems because of sports activities. Involved were my arms, elbow, knees, ankles and groin area. To relieve pain, it is obvious that ointments such as Ben-Gay or Efficascent oil does the job temporarily for a couple of hours. For longer term relief from pain and recuperation, it is still best to rest from activities that involve those nerves, supplement it with Vitamin B complex that would directly benefit nerves and massage therapy. Analgesics, or pain relieving medications help but regular intake of these would only lower your body's tolerance for pain.
Please note that my article is based on personal experience with informal consultations with physicians and may not apply to others. When in doubt, consult your condition with a trusted medical practitioner. Muscular and vein disorders might be mistaken as nerve disorder.

Lazur I'm sorry to hear that the damage was due to surgical accident. I am aware of other surgical accidents but not on nerves. You should have a recourse to the surgeon who did that. The nerve could have self healed and rehabilitated but could have been caught or attached itself with a muscle or blood vessel that's causing the pain.
thnks for this post..i am having problems with my left arm i think there is neve involvement the pain is just unbearable at times..is it possible to prevent further nerve damage? i was diagnosed with MPS and CTS.

Thank you for answering my request. During an operation to my upper left leg musscle(quadriceps)the doctor accidently cut a bloodvessel and while reparing that he cut the nerve involving the left side and upper leg. First the skin only felt numb, but a little later on it felt like someone was cutting my leg with a knife and other times it feels like my leg is on fire. Wearing pants is painfull as well is walking most of the time.
Now I use morfine to relieve pain, but for me it's not the answer. I can't rest my activities as a single working mother of two.
I'm going to visit another hospital next week and wil ask about the ointments you talk about.Maybe that will be just enough to have a good night sleep
Thank you:)
